Port Blair, Apr 09: The Joint Action Committee of ACCI comprising of all trade, industry and commercial establishments under the banner of ACCI, has declared that there will be a TRADE BANDH including all shops, establishments along with auto, Jeep & Private Buses except emergency services on Wednesday 12th April 2023 from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Mr. Surendra Prahladka, the President of Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industry informed media that the ACCI had earlier submitted various representations to the Lt Governor, A & N Islands, requesting his intervention to resolve several issues that are hampering the economic growth of the islands and adversely impacting various sectors such as trade, commerce, tourism, hospitality etc.
He mentioned that despite ACCI’s several representations / requests over the past several years, no action has been taken in this regard. On the contrary, several unfair decisions such as substantial increase in circle rate, registration charges, power tariff have occurred over the last many years. It is extremely important to resolve these issues which will take the islands on the path of progress and development like the rest of India.
The major long pending issues are Stoppage of Diversion / conversion of land; Steep hike in power tariff; Arbitrary increase in circle rate, registration charges of A & N Islands and rates re valuation of lease deed & gift deed on new circle rates; Registration of Apartments; Long delay in building plan approval from Andaman Nicobar Command (ANC); Availability / extraction of local sand & timber for islanders; Non availability of industrial estate and issues faced by hollow block and crusher industry; Registration of vehicles, NOC for Swaraj Dweep& Shaheed Dweep, online and state permit; One time exemption of buildings in violation of building plans and CRZ; Review of Master Plan, Building Plan, Town &Country Planning Act and Port, infrastructure and equipment.
