TSG Bhasker Demands for Opening Quarries and Crusher Units in South Andaman

May 19, 2023 by sanjib Leave a Comment

Port Blair, May 19: The Congress Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker on Friday highlighted the non-operation of Quarries and Crusher Units in entire South Andaman District.
In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands, Mr. Bhasker said that due to closure of Quarry permits by the A&N Administration from the month of November, 2022, the entire South Andaman District has become stand still.
“The Quarries have all been closed and some of the crushing units are only operational with the available stocks. This closure of the Quarries has caused hardships to the Quarry Owners and also to the construction industry”, he said.
He added that the construction industry has given employment to a huge workforce and has also invested in the machineries. Now the crusher owners are forced to sell their products at higher rates to meet their expenses including services of the bank loans, giving salary to their staffs and maintenance of their machineries.
Hence, Mr. Bhasker requested the Lt. Governor to take immediate measures to reopen Quarries so that construction and allied industries does not get affected more which will also directly help the livelihood of at least 20,000 to 30,000 Islanders.
