Port Blair, Aug 13: The Rangat Police have seized 1 kg 50 gram illicit ganja on 10-08-2012 in a raid at Chitrakut, Nimbutala. On receipt of credible information from SI Mahesh Kumar, SHO, PS Rangat camp at Port Blair, a team consisting of SI D. K. Seal, SI Abdul Salam, HC A. Shaukat Ali, PCs Anil Yadav, Samsul Hussain and HG Sujit Kumar alongwith Mr. M. Ismail, Executive Magistrate, Rangat and independent witnesses conducted raid at Chitrakut and apprehended two persons namely Tapan Mistry S/o Mr. Biren Mistry (29) Pvt Worker R/o Dasrathpur and Pradeep Kr. Mistry S/o Late Upen Mistry (30) Pvt. Worker R/o Sitapur, Rangat and recovered 1 Kg 50 gram illicit ganja from their possession.
After observing all codal formalities they were arrested and a case vide Crime No.111/2012 dated 10-08-2012 has been registered at PS Rangat against them. They were produced before the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge (Dist. & Session Judge) at Port Blair and were remanded to judicial custody for 14 days. Further investigation of the case is in progress.
“The general public is requested to pass on any credible information regarding illegal activities to the Police over phone numbers 274239, 100, 273206 so that such anti-social elements are brought to justice. A communication received from SP(D) N&M Andaman,” a release from Police Department said here today.
