Port Blair, Aug 13: Mr. B. P. Ray, Member of Parliament has introduced the private members bill seeking a Legislative Assembly for the A & N Islands in the Lok Sabha on 10th August 2012. The bill was introduced on the second day of the intense Monsoon Session of the Parliament before a packed house.
In this connection Mr.B. P. Ray said that he would intensify his pursuit for a Legislative Assembly for the Islands. The bill has now been initiated and a Court Committee headed by the Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha will examine the bill. A Ballot Session would be held on the 21st of this month and if the chance is achieved, the house will deliberate on the prospects of the Legislative Assembly for the Islands.
