Port Blair, May 22: Heavy wind in the early hours of today caused a tree branch to fall on a house at Mannagrhat in South Andaman when everybody was asleep. Master Anuj Dung Dung, aged 11 years, son of Shri J Francis Dung Dung, was caught under the branch and crushed to death. The house was also totally damaged.
Seriousely injured Anuj was immediately rushed to Wimberlygunj PHC, which referred him to GB Pant hospital but sccumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital. Anuj is survived by his parents and a sister.
Meanwhile, PCC President Kuldeep Rai Sharma, who is at mainland, has earnestly requested the Administrator to consider immediate & adequate monetory compensation to the parents of Anuj.
In a communication Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma today said that he is confident enough that the Lt Governor who has always helped the distressed islanders, will take immediate action. Sharma has also condoled the sad demise of the child.
