Port Blair, May 24: A minor fire was reported from the Garacharma Hospital Road Transformer of Electricity Department at nearly 11.30 pm yesterday. The fire alarmed nearby residents, who immeidately initmated the matter to Fire Brigade. The Fire Caused power cut at the midnight in entire Garachama and New Pahargaon area.
The Fire Brigade Vehicle and employees of Electricity Deparrtment took no time to reach the spot. However, the flare disappeared as soon as the line was cut off by staff of Electricity Department.
“It was just a spark, which vanished as soon as we shut down the main switch,” Mr. Devinder Singh, Sub Inspector, Fire Station Garacharman told Andaman Sheekha. It is believed heavy rain caused short circuit and the fire.
