Ferry and Helicopter Service between Rangat and Port Blair: DC North and Middle takes up the issue with Administration

Port Blair, Dec 14: Coming to the rescue of people of North and Middle Andaman once again the Deputy Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman, Dr. Angel Bhati Chauhan has taken up the crucial issue of starting ferry and Helicopter services between Port Blair and Rangat region, with the Andaman and Nicobar Administration.
People of Middle Andaman region, especially the patients and old aged people have been suffering heavily since these services were withdrawn since lock down, to contain the spread of COVID-19 virus.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha today the Deputy Commissioner said that she is fully aware about the problems being faced by people of Middle Andaman and for this reason, this matter has been taken up already and she is hopeful that soon the ferry and helicopter service between Rangat and Port Blair will be resumed.
Informing about another major step taken by her for the relief of North and Middle Andaman residents and ATR commuters, she said that the necessary forest clearance for ATR upgradation work between Rest Camp and Basantipur has been obtained and the NH4 officials have been directed to carry out the ATR up-gradation work on the said stretch on war footing, so that people gets some relief from poor condition of road.
As per sources the work has already started. Not only that Andaman Sheekha her learnt that due to constant perusal of DC N & M Andaman, the condition of ATR between Mayabunder and Dhuratang has improved considerably, brining more relief for ATR commuters.
Regarding some concerns, raised by grassroot leaders about movement of public, traveling out of Diglipur with permission of AC Diglipur, the DC said that such intimations are necessary so that the District Administration is aware about the movement of public. She said that this is necessary to contain the spread of COVID-19 virus and hence appreciated the cooperation being given by public in this regard.
Because of the constant efforts of District Administration of North and Middle Andaman the COVID-19 cases in the district has decreased considerably, which is also a major achievement of DC, North and Middle Andaman.

  1. Please start a ferry between rangat and portblair as soon as possible. It will be helpful for tourist like us who want to vist North and middle andaman in last week of December
