Port Blair, May 04: After Port Blair city, now news of power crisis is coming up from Nancowry Group of Islands. According to information, the Islanders of Kamorta Island of Nancowry Group of Islands are witnessing heavy power cuts, mainly due to shortage of Diesel.
According to information received since last one week, people of Kamorta Island are experiencing five hours long load shedding from morning 6:30 am to 9:30 am and evening 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
An officer of the Electricity Department informed Andaman Sheekha that the load shedding is being carried out due to the shortage of Diesel in the Island.
He informed that Diesel available with the Department in Kamorta Island will probably last only till Sunday. It is informed that the Electricity Department has requested the A&N Administration to supply 48 KL diesel as soon as possible and the Administration has assured to send a cargo ship within this week for Nancowry Group of Island with Diesel and Petrol.
