Public of Hut Bay demands X-Ray Technician, Sonographer and Generator Set for PHC Hut Bay

Port Blair, Mar 12: The absence of an X-Ray technician at the PHC Hut Bay hospital has left patients in the region suffering for over six months, according to reports. In addition, the hospital is also without a sonographer (ultrasound technician) and a generator set, making treatment and care difficult for admitted patients.
The Zilla Parishad Member, Hutbay, Mr. M. Vasudevan Nair, has spoken out about the situation, saying that patients are being forced to travel to PHC RK Pur for X-Ray reports, which is both troublesome and time-consuming. He added that the PRI members of Little Andaman have been demanding a new generator set and ultrasound doctor for PHC Hut Bay for the past couple of years, but their demands have not been met by the Directorate of Health Service.
According to Dr. In charge PHC Hut Bay, the hospital has been managing the situation by sending patients to RK Pur Hospital for X-Ray reports via hospital ambulance. This has been going on since August 2022. As for the generator set, it was installed in 2006, and some technical faults were found in its alternator in September 2022. She added that Hut Bay region does not have an electricity problem and hence the use of DG Set is minimum at present. Only in case of power breakdown patients have to face problems.
As per the public, the hospital has already informed the Directorate of Health Service about the need for an X-Ray technician, ultrasound doctor, and a new generator set. The lack of these facilities is causing inconvenience and discomfort to patients in the region, who are struggling to receive proper medical care.

The situation at the PHC Hut Bay hospital highlights the need for adequate staffing and facilities at medical centers in remote areas to ensure that patients receive timely and effective treatment. The authorities must take immediate action to address the situation and meet the demands of the people of Hut Bay region.
