Port Blair, Mar 22: Former Member of Parliament and Bharatiya Janata Party candidate, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray today filed his nomination for the Lok Sabha 2024 elections in Andaman and Nicobar Islands today.
Right from the morning, there was a significant presence of party workers and supporters outside the BJP office.
Accompanied by his supporters and party workers, Mr. Ray submitted his nomination papers.
Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray handed over four sets of nomination papers to the Returning Officer, A & N Islands Parliamentary Constituency, Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS at the Office of the Returning Officer (Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman) in person.
Speaking to the media afterward, he expressed gratitude towards his supporters and party workers.
“In the blessings of Honourable Modi Ji, I am grateful to have been given the BJP ticket. Today, I have submitted my nomination forms. I humbly request for your support. I have seen wholehearted blessings from everyone this time as well. I pray that their blessings help in my work, and ease any difficulties that may arise. I can assure you, my dedication will remain unchanged. I owe everything to the respect, honour, and love bestowed upon me by the people. I will never forget it. Hence, I will surely serve the people, as much as I can. With utmost respect,” Mr. Ray added. The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for General Elections to the 18th Lok Sabha and the notification for the First Phase of Lok Sabha Election to this effect has been issued on Mar. 20, 2024. As per this, the filing of nomination for A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency has commenced from 20/03/2024 and the last date for filing of nominations is 27/03/2024. The nomination papers can be filed in the Office of the Returning Officer, A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency (District Office, South Andaman), Port Blair between 11 am and 3 pm on any day (other than Public Holiday) not later than 27/03/2024. The nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny on 28/03/2024 at 11 am in Room No. 1, Chamber of Returning Officer (Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman), Port Blair. The last date of withdrawal of candidature is 30/03/2024 and the polling, if necessary, will be held on 19/04/2024 from 7 am to 6 pm.
