Learn a Foreign language at IGNOU Regional Centre, Port Blair

Port Blair, July 08: There are 21 schools of studies in IGNOU Headquarters, New Delhi and one of them is School of Foreign Languages (SOFL). Presently, School of Foreign Language offers academic programmes in the following nine foreign languages, viz. Arabic, French, Persian, Mandarin (Chinese), Russian, German, Spanish, Japanese and Korean. These innovative, flexible, and cost-effective foreign language academic programmes are delivered through Online mode. The foreign language academic programmes are offered at certificate, diploma, and Master`s levels to capacitate the students professionally in today job market. Learning a foreign language provides immense benefits and open many avenues for a learner. It helps learners to connect people from different cultures, to know about their history, geography, art, literature, tradition, songs, movies etc.

One can learn it to make foreign travel easier, while others can learn it to watch movies, to listen songs and read literary texts in original. Learning a foreign language also helps to widen career options in the future. The school also offers programmes/training to meet requirements of specific organization like the Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Indian Army, Arms manufacturing industries etc. List of programmes offered in foreign languages:

MAARB (Master of Arts in Arabic), MARUS (Master of Arts in Russian), MAFL (Master of Arts in French), CAL (Certificate in Arabic Language), CFL (Certificate in French Language), CGL (Certificate in German Language), CJL (Certificate in Japanese Language), CKLC (Certificate in Korean Language & Culture), CPEL (Certificate in Persian Language), CRUL (Certificate in Russian Language), CSLC (Certificate in Spanish Language & Culture), DTG (Diploma in Teaching German).
