01 More Foreign Poacher Apprehended by N&M Andaman District Police

Port Blair, Aug 11: On 09/08/2024, during the on-going anti-poaching operations in the N&MA District, another foreign poacher was successfully apprehended by the dedicated team near the Gopen Nallah jungle, within the jurisdiction of PS Kalighat.
The anti-poaching team, constituted under the leadership of SI Ashok Baghel, SHO PS Kalighat, and led by ASI Vijay Kumar Ekka, along with HC Suresh Guria and Constables Ajay Das, Arun Dung Dung, Sachin, Sanjay Barla, Suhas Ingle, Anirudh Naik, Joginder, and Sandeep Kumar, has been relentlessly conducting combing operations against foreign poachers since 01/08/2024. As a result of these efforts, one poacher and a dinghy were apprehended on 01/08/2024.
On 09/08/2024, during an extensive and continuing combing operation, the team discovered a poacher hiding in the Gopen Nallah jungle. The team acted swiftly and apprehended him. Due to the poor health condition of the apprehended poacher, he was immediately ospitalized and is currently receiving treatment. Once the poacher is discharged from the hospital, he will be handed over to PS CCS for further investigation. Meanwhile, the anti-poaching team continues its search for more poachers in the area.
This successful operation is a testament to the dedication and effectiveness of the anti-poaching team in safeguarding our territory and protecting our rich wildlife resources from foreign intruders. The bravery and commitment displayed by the team have been lauded, and they will be suitably rewarded.
The entire search operation was carried out under the direction of Mr. Ankesh Yadav, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur and the vigilant supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, SP (D) N&MA.
The general public and fishermen who are venturing in sea are requested to pass and share any credible information pertaining to sighting of foreign boats/nationals to their nearest Police Station or over phone No.100, 112 & 03192-273344. Their identity will be kept secret and they will be suitably rewarded for their brave act.
