Baratang, March 05: Thick fog has been disrupting ferry services at Nilambur Jetty in Baratang Island over the Middle Strait for the past few days, causing significant delays for commuters and travelers. Due to poor visibility, vehicle ferry staff have been unable to start vehicle ferry services early in the morning, forcing operations to begin only after 7 AM when the fog clears.
As a result, long queues of vehicles can be seen at Nilambur Jetty, with the traffic jam stretching up to the Nilambur Church area. Daily commuters, including ATR (Andaman Trunk Road) travelers, have been facing difficulties as they are forced to wait for extended periods before they can cross the Middle Strait.
In light of these recurring disruptions, the public is now eagerly awaiting the completion of the much-anticipated Baratang Bridge, which is expected to resolve this issue permanently. According to available information, some work on the bridge has already begun, though further details are awaited.
