Sri Vijaya Puram, Apr. 7: In a significant move towards inclusive education and accessibility, the Department of Education, A&N Administration in collaboration with National Book Trust (NBT), organized a special Braille book distribution drive at the ongoing Andaman Nicobar Book Fair in Sri Vijaya Puram today.
The event was graced by Swamy Omkaratmanandaji Maharaj of Ramakrishna Mission, Sri Vijaya Puram and the Director (Education), A&N Administration, Shri Vikram Singh who jointly underscored the value of accessible learning resources for all.
The Director (Education), in his address, highlighted the critical role of Braille Books in empowering visually impaired students and called upon the National Book Trust to extend its cooperation further to meet the growing demand in the Islands. He appreciated NBT’s efforts on inclusive education and expressed the Administration’s willingness to collaborate closely in this noble cause.
Swamy Omkaratmanandaji Maharaj also shared his thoughts on the spiritual and educational empowerment that inclusive knowledge fosters, praising NBT’s initiative as a step towards building a more compassionate and enlightened society.
A collection of Braille Books, including academic materials, children’s stories and biographies were distributed to the visually impaired students, as well as to Schools and Educational Institutions serving visually impaired learners.
The initiative received an overwhelmingly positive response from the local community, educators and students, marking a proud moment in the ongoing journey toward ‘Books for All’.
