Sri Vijaya Puram, May 3: In a pioneering step towards integrating environmental consciousness with personal wellbeing, the Biological Park, Chidiyatapu organized a special event titled ‘Harit Yoga’ at Biological Park, Chidiyatapu yesterday. The initiative combined Yoga practice followed by a tree planting drive to promote holistic health & environment sustainability.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from staff, workers, family members of workers, yoga practitioner and forester trainees from Forest Training Institute, Wimberlygunj. The yoga was performed under the guidance of Shri. Benjamin Selva Kumar (PET), FTI. Participants engaged in a rejuvenating yoga session. Thereafter, plantation of endemic and native species of saplings, found growing in the natural forest of A&N Islands, were planted near and inside animal enclosures.
Shri. A.C. Tilak, Deputy Director, Biological Park, Chidiyatapu highlighted the aim behind the initiative. Ms B. Sweta, Camp Officer (Plant Section) coordinated species sapling plantation event.
The programme concluded with a pledge to protect the environment and continue the spirit of ‘Harit Yoga’ across neighbourhoods.
