Mass Deworming Drive Also Announced by Animal Husbandry Department

Sri Vijaya Puram, May 20:The 31st round of Foot and Mouth Disease vaccination will commence from 2nd June, 2025 in Sri Vijaya Puram under the flagship scheme National Animal Disease Control programme. To elicit an optimum immune response in animals following vaccination, the animal needs to be in better health condition which is achieved by appropriate deworming. Deworming the Bovine prior to vaccination leads to effective immunity and thereby, the efficiency of vaccine is optimum. On the other hand, vaccination can be a stress on the animal and if the animal is already fighting parasites, the stress gets exacerbated.
As an endeavor to bolster the overall health of bovines, a mass deworming drive is being organized by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services through all the Veterinary Institutions of Sri Vijaya Puram to deworm not only the bovines but also other livestock and poultry. The cattle owners, other livestock owners and poultry owners have been requested to get their livestock dewormed. The PRIs and Municipal Ward Councilors, Ward Members have been requested to disseminate the information for the benefit of the farmers.
