Baratang, May 22: Fulfilling a long-standing demand of the local residents, on 22/05/2025 a Police Booth at Adazig under the jurisdiction of Police Station Baratang was formally inaugurated by Ms. Shweta K. Sugathan, IPS, in the august presence of Sh. Chandan G.S, SDPO Rangat, and SI Surjit Bhattacharjee, SHO, PS Baratang along with other officers and community members.
The Adazig Police Booth has been established to address the genuine concerns of the local population, who had to travel long distances to reach PS Baratang—especially during night hours—to report complaints or seek police assistance. The considerable distance and lack of immediate access to police services often posed challenges for timely grievance redressal and public safety.
With the inauguration of the Adazig Police Booth, the local public will now benefit from improved access to police services, quicker response times, and enhanced community safety. This initiative reflects the commitment of the Andaman & Nicobar Police to decentralize services and bring policing closer to the people.
The event was well-received by the community, who expressed their gratitude for this much-needed facility that strengthens public-police engagement in the region.
The general public is requested to pass and share any credible information pertaining to any crime or illegal activities to their nearest Police Station or over phone No.100, 112 & 03192-273344. The identity of the informers will be kept secret and will also be suitably rewarded.
