Port Blair, Aug 06: The Andaman and Nicobar Administration has planned a Botanical Garden with Musical Fountains at Port Blair.
In a message in micro blogging site twitter, the Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lt. Gen (Retd.) A K Singh today said that a Botanical Garden will come up in Port Blair, with a musical fountain, ornamental plants, butterfly-park, walkways, children-park and cafeteria by Oct 16.
In yet another twitter message he added that A & N Administration is also planning to encourage tourism in outer Islands.
“Plans are afoot to encourage tourism in outer Islands Diglipur and Hut Bay, many schemes including Oceanarium have been proposed to Ministry,” the Lt. Governor added in his message.
Andaman and Nicobar Islands used to get nearly 1 lakh tourists before 2014 tsunami, which slowly jumped upto 3 lakhs in last year.
Remote Islanders and Public leaders have been demanding for promotion of tourism beyond Port Blair. Tourism is believed to be the most prominent Industry of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
I dont think we need to create another garden, when the existing ones are not maintained properly. What is required is a visit of his excellency to the Gandhi Park opposite Raj Nivas. It is in such a bad shape. Little effort here and a little effort there could bring the park back to life.
