Port Blair, Oct 04: On first October 2019 Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the Member of Parliament, A & N Islands laid the foundation stone for the Community Hall at Nanumaghar Gram Panchayat and later laid the foundation stoned for construction of CC road work at Manpur under Collinpur Gram Panchayat the function was presided over by Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman Mr. Sanjib Kumar Mandal, in presence of Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman/ Secretary (OL/Archives), Mr. Krishan Kumar, IAS, Miss Mariyam Bibi, Zilla Parishad Member, Deva Kumar, Zilla Parishad Member, Mr. Subir Chander, Zilla Parishad Member, Smti Preethima Kumari Tirkery, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Namanaghar, Mr. Mohd. Safiq, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Mithakari, Pradhan, Maha Dev Majhi, Panchayat Samiti Members, Bikas Biswas, Executive Engineer, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman Mr. Pradeep Prasad, and all PRI Members were present alongwith the Adhyaksh and Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman
Speaking on the occasion at Namunaghar and at Manpur, the Hon’ble Member of Parliament efforts and development of the youth particularly he highlighted the problem of drugs in the Islands. He further stressed the needs of playgrounds and sports facilities, while mentioning that the construction of Community Halls should be given a reconsideration, as the money can be put to use to some more development works involving the youths and women from the area. He advised that the present Community Hall, constructed by the Salvation Army and now needs renovation may be transferred from the Panchayat fund. He also spoke about the Mithakhari Bridge and about the drinking water issue in the area.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sanjib Mandal, detailed about the proposed work being undertaken by the Zilla Parishad and village Panchayat.
He further elaborated the role of Zilla Parishad in Development activities. While the Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman Mr. Krishan Kumar congratulated the villagers at Manpur and Nanumaghar. He requested residents of Namunaghar to find the activities they wants to take up in the Community halls, particularly the indoor games and skill development activities, so that the hall remains in use and serve the purpose.
