Port Blair, Oct 09: Andaman & Nicobar Command (ANC) celebrated its 19th Raising Day by conducting a Ceremonial Parade with contingents of all four components on 08th October 2019. The Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN), Vice Admiral Bimal Verma, AVSM, ADC reviewed the parade at INS Utkrosh and awarded Unit Citations for outstanding performance to BVY (PBR), 282 (I) Fd Wksp Coy (EME) and GE (I) 866 EWS. The parade exhibited the sense of discipline and professionalism of the personnel through their exceptional turn out, bearing and drill movements.
In his address at the Ceremonial Parade, CINCAN conveyed his heartiest felicitations to all the personnel and families of ANC on the occasion of the 19th Raising Day and acknowledged their contribution towards the operational readiness of ANC. He lauded the personnel on the achievements of the Command over the last few years, which included efficient safeguarding of the A&N Islands, the coastline and the EEZ, successful completion of various national and multi-national level exercises, HADR missions and aid to the Civil authorities as well as curbing of poaching and human trafficking. He also spoke about the building up of force levels including men, weapons and equipment over a period of time in furtherance of the Command’s goals. Commander-in-Chief elucidated about several important projects of strategic significance that are underway to improve inter-island connectivity for the general populace of A & N Islands as well as the efforts towards improving quality of life of the families of the personnel of ANC. Vice Admiral Bimal Verma also appreciated the efforts of the members of the Defence Wives Welfare Association (DWWA) in raising social awareness through various campaigns such as Segregated Waste Management, voluntary Organ Donation, Blood Donation Camps, etc.
