Port Blair, Oct 28: Mr. Jatin Narwal, IPS (DIGP/HQ) visited Baratang, Rangat and Diglipur to review the Covid19 related awareness and enforcement measures being taken by the district police. This visit is particularly important because of the fact that there was a sudden spike in the cases in N&MA district, due to which the district administration had to declare containment zones. Effective enforcement, alongwith the widespread awareness campaign, is the need of the hour to deal with this unprecedented situation. He was briefed about the police action by SP/N&MA Mr. Vichitra Veer, IPS. Review meetings were also held with different stakeholders at different places, including PRIs, heads of religious institutions and members of market association. Mr. Jatin Narwal also held the Sampark Sabha with the staff, in which he praised the efforts of the staff and emphasized on the personal safety of the staff also.
It is important to mention here that the district police has taken strict against the violators. In Diglipur itself more than 50 people have been booked and 3 FIRs have been registered under Disaster Management Act in last 3 days. While the district administration and police are making all out effort to make public aware about the risks and precautions related to Covid, strict action against the people not following the containment zone protocol shows the commitment and seriousness of the district administration to deal with the situation. SP/N&MA said that nobody will be allowed to violate the rules and to put their own as well as the life of others at risk. He appreciated DC/N&MA for her prompt response to the situation, which has brought the situation in control.
