Work of Middle Strait Creek bridge to complete in next one years; 94 percent work of Humphrey Strait Creek Bridge is over

Port Blair, July 06: Dr. Angel Bhati Chauhan, IAS, the Deputy Commissioner of NMA District today said that within next one year the Middle Strait Creek bridge between Baratang and Middle Strait, will also be completed.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Deputy Commissioner said that the contract value of the bridge is 170 Crores and out of 109 piles, work for 60 piles has been completed.
She said that the Administration is hopeful that in next one year the Middle Strait Creek bridge will be completed.
“In last one year fast pace work in Middle Strait Creek bridge has been observed. Initially there were some issues with permissions and clearances,” the DC added.
The DC added that the two bridges in Andaman Trunk Road, which is life line of North and Middle Andaman, are very crucial for these Islands.
The Deputy Commissioner pointed out that the structural work of the Humphrey Strait Creek Bridge at Kadamtala is completed. “The road laying works and the ornamental works are in progress, which will take another one or two months to complete,” the DC added.
She further mentioned weather is a major hurdle in this work but the administration is working hard to complete the work as soon as possible and very soon the inauguration date of the Humphrey Strait Creek bridge will be announced.
The DC, NMA further pointed out that in NMA district altogether 60,000 doses of vaccines have been provided.
99% population in NMA of 45 and above age group people have been vaccinated with first dose and for the completion of second dose the administration is doing special camps at remotest areas and providing second dose to all eligible beneficiaries. Total 11,000 people are there, who have been completely vaccinated with both the doses.
“In NMA District around 14,500 people of 18-44 age group have been given the first dose of vaccine and soon additional doses will be received by administration and will be distributed accordingly”, she added.
The DC further assured the residents of NMA district that all the people scheduled to get their second dose of vaccine need not panic. Our special camp teams will reach them all will be covered in the next 10 days.
Dr. Chauhan the DC also mentioned that the two CHCs in NMA district are being more equipped with medical infrastructure i.e. oxygen pipeline is being set and the work will be complete within two days in CHC Rangat and then the team will further head towards Diglipur CHC. So far interviews have been conducted for COVID management, field work and for better enforcements, will be soon deployed in the field.
