John Wilbert & Vikramaditya
Port Blair, Sep, 23: As many as four villages of Diglipur region today witnessed water-logging and flood like situation due to heavy to very heavy rainfall in Diglipur region since yesterday night. The four villages which were worst hit were Desh Bandu Gram area, Madhu Pur Village, Krishnapuri Village and RK Gram.
In some places roads were completely flooded, making it difficult for anyone to drive on those roads and hence police team of PS Diglipur had to divert traffic in a few places. However, in some areas, as there was no alternative road for diversion, people remained stranded on both side.
A few families were shifted in safe location by authorities after their houses were inundated in rain water, it is reported.
Although there is no report of any injuries or loss of life but all the revenue staffs like Tehsilder, RIs and Patwaries were on the ground since morning to monitor the situation. As per details, by late evening water receded in most of the villages.
