A NUMBER OF PETTY CASES UNDER MOTOR VEHICLE ACT AND EXCISE ACT DISPOSED IN A SINGLE DAY AT CIRCUIT COURT OF HON’BLE JMFC AT KALARA, DIGLIPUR

Mayabunder, Oct 08: The Hon’ble Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Mayabunder holds Circuit Court at Kalara in Diglipur on every Friday of the week since it started functioning in the year 2012. The Hon’ble Circuit Court at Kalara, Diglipur is presently presided over by Shri. Vikramjit Sen, Hon’ble Judicial Magistrate First Class, Mayabunder. On this Friday i.e. 08/10/2021, a huge number of petty cases under the Motor Vehicle Act, Police Act and minor sections of the IPC were disposed off. Those cases were recently transferred from the Hon’ble Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mayabunder. It is also learnt that fine amount of Rs. 36,800/- was realized in total during the disposal of the petty cases in a single day.
The Hon’ble Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class- cum- Civil Judge (Junior Division), Circuit Court at Kalara, Diglipur was established on 06.08.2012. The trial of criminal as well as civil cases are taken up on each working Friday by the Hon’ble Circuit Court. It was a long standing demand of the local people of Diglipur Sub-Division that petty cases and traffic violation cases should also be transferred to the Hon’ble Circuit Court at Kalara Junction for disposal since the litigants had to travel all the way from Diglipur and Kalighat region to the Hon’ble Court situated at Mayabunder for paying fines of even minor traffic violations and other petty offences. The demand was also raised in front of the Hon’ble District & Sessions Judge, Andaman & Nicobar Islands by the local people of Diglipur during a Legal Awareness Camp held on 10/08/2021 at the Community Hall of Subhasgram Panchayat, Diglipur. The learned Advocates appearing before the Hon’ble Circuit Court at Kalara, Diglipur had also consistently raised their genuine demand before the Hon’ble High Court as well as Andaman & Nicobar Administration for transfer of petty cases to the Hon’ble Circuit Court at Kalara, Diglipur along with other cases for trial and disposal. Ultimately, during the last Monitoring Committee Meeting held at Mayabunder Court Complex on 11/08/2021 under the Chairmanship of Hon’ble District & Sessions Judge, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, it was resolved that all petty cases and traffic challan cases will be transferred to the Hon’ble Circuit Court at Kalara, Diglipur for disposal in future. The District Monitoring Committee meeting was also attended by Hon’ble Additional District & Sessions Judge, Mayabunder, Hon’ble Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mayabunder, Deputy Commissioner, N & M Andaman District, Mayabunder, Superintendent of Police, N & M Andaman District, Mayabunder and other high officials of the Local District Administration. Pursuant to the resolution of the District Monitoring Committee meeting, the petty cases and traffic violation cases are now being transferred on regular basis from the Court of Hon’ble Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mayabunder to the file of Hon’ble JMFC, Circuit Court at Kalara, Diglipur for disposal. According to the Smti. Bulbul Mistry, Ex- Pradhan of Sitanagar Gram Panchayat, the people of Diglipur Sub- Division are very grateful to the Andaman & Nicobar Administration and the Judiciary for fulfilling their long time demand regarding transfer of petty cases to the Hon’ble Circuit Court at Kalara, Diglipur. It is also learnt from reliable sources that a proposal is already pending for establishment of permanent court campus at R. K. Gram, Diglipur. In this regard, many high profile dignitaries had visited Diglipur and inspection of suitable plots had already taken place for identification of the plot of land where the new court campus of Hon’ble JMFC Court, Diglipur would be established in future.
The litigants of Diglipur area who attended the court proceedings on 08.10.2021 also expressed their satisfaction that their cases are now being taken up for hearing and speedy disposal at the Circuit Court at Kalara, Diglipur saving them lot of time and money that they have to expend for traveling to Mayabunder.
