Rahul Singh & Vikramaditya
Campbell Bay, Oct 17: The market in Great Nicobar has almost run out of essential commodities like Onions, Potatoes, Tomatoes and eggs , giving nightmares to the residents of the Islands. People living in Great Nicobar are finding it difficult to even plan their daily meal.
According to villagers in the last sailing of MV Kalighat hardly any cargo reached Campbell Bay, which triggered this crisis.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha former Zilla Parishad member of Campbell Bay Mr. Gagandeep Singh said that this is unfortunate to note that the Great Nicobar Islands is facing such crisis and no fruitful steps have been taken up yet to solve this issue. He pointed out that the main reason behind such crisis is that MV Kalighat, during its last sailing brought only passengers and no cargo.
He requested the Administration to send all essential commodities for Great Nicobar Islands as early as possible.
