Port Blair, Apr 30: The Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) conducted Exercise “SAGAR KAVACH” from 29-30 Apr 2023, with an aim to validate Coastal Security Standard Operating Procedures and bring together all stakeholders to enhance synergy for a more secure coastline. During the exercise, heightened security measures at sea and land were implemented in the coastal areas & Areas of Responsibility of stakeholders.
The exercise commenced at 0600h on 29 Apr 23, with proactive participation of all 17 stakeholders of the coastal security construct at Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The exercise evaluated threats from the sea and validated the effectiveness of the security mechanisms. To assess preparedness levels of the coastal security agencies, real time threats and contingencies were simulated. The lessons learnt from exercise would be incorporated to further enhance the coastal security construct.
