Port Blair, Oct 03: PCC President Kuldeep Rai Sharma along with all leaders paid floral tribute to the portraits of Mahatma Gandhi and Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri at Gandhi Bhavan at 8.00 AM on their birthday on 2nd October 2013 followed by a march towards the Gandhi Statue at Gandhi market where floral homage was also paid to the father of Nation.
Kuldeep told the gatherings that Mahatma Gandhi was the apostle of truth and non violence who was the pioneer of satyagraha—resistance to tyranny through mass civil disobedience, firmly founded upon ahimsa or total nonviolence—which led India to independence and inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world, while Bharat Ratna Lal Bahadur Shastri has always reminded us to honour our brave Jawans and selfless Kishans.
Kuldeep also came on the road with other party workers and launched a cleanliness drive. Kuldeep told the residents of the area to keep their surroundings neat and clean to have a healthy environment. Bharat Ratna Kamraj, whose death anniversary falls on 2nd Oct, was also remembered with respect.
