Central Government Holiday Home Inaugurated

ONLINE ALLOTMENTS BE GIVEN FROM MAY 15

Port Blair, May 08: The long pending need for the Central Government Employees across the country fulfilled today with the opening of Central Government Holiday Home at Port Blair. The Additional Director General of Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Mr R S Sheoran inaugurated the Holiday Home located in the Central Government Offices Complex in Lamabaline, Port Blair this morning.

Inaugurating the Home, Mr Sheoran said the Holiday home will attract more central Government employees to these islands and thereby boosting up the tourism development of the region. He said the government employees find difficulties in getting comfortable accommodation at reasonable rates at Port Blair owing to acute shortage of accommodation in the Administration as well as CPWD Guest houses. He hoped that with the opening of the Holiday Home, the serving and retired Government employees will be benefited to a greater extent. He also announced that the online booking of accommodation at the home will be started soon and the allotments will be given with effect from 15th May.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr P P Srinivasan, Chief Engineer of CPWD, Southern Region said the long pending dream of the employees has come true with the opening of the holiday home in the dream destination. He said the guest house is equipped with the modern facilities such as five star air-conditioners, LCD TV , Hot water geyser, intercom etc., in all the rooms.

Mr K K Peshin, Chief Engineer(Electricals), CPWD also spoke.Mr NNSS Rao, Superintending Engineer presided over the rogramme, while the Executive Engineer, CPWD, Port Blair, Mr Rajendra Prasad proposed vote of thanks.

The Holiday home has 11 double bedded rooms and 4 VIP suites and a spacious dining hall. Internet facility is also provided in the lounge to enable the guests to do online booking of their tickets and check their mails.

The booking of accommodation at the home can be made through the website of Directorate of Estates –www.estates.nic.in. The serving and retired Central Government Employees will be charged Rs.150 per day for A/C double room, whereas the employees from State Government, Public Sector units and Autonomous bodies will be charged Rs. 300 per day at this Holiday Home.     It is a very good dicision. This will definitely attract more visitors. This will be very good for the safety and convenience of the visitors.
