South Andaman Police again Cracks Down on Drugs Peddler & Narcotics

Port Blair, July 17: South Andaman Police has exposed a racket of drug peddlers and arrested 04 of them in 04 cases of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985 while affecting a seizure of 1.54 Kg of illicit Ganja.
On 14.07.2019, on receipt of credible information, a raiding team under the guidance of SHO Aberdeen, Insp. Sanjay Kumar & comprising SI P. Jeevan, HC Sunil Singh Yadav, PC’s Suresh, Vinod Liniya, Neelkanteshwar Rao & Nandita Mistry conducted raid at Shadipur and recovered 120 gram ganja from the possession of Sujit Saha S/o Mr. Sadananda Saha, 22 yrs, R/o Shadipur.
Earlier on 13.07.2019, the same team conducted raid at School Line, Dairy Farm & Carbyn Chowk and recovered nearly 1.42 Kg ganja from the possession of Uday Mondal S/o Mr. Morari Mondal, 28 yrs R/o Bhatu Basthi, Munna Halder S/o Mr. Manoranjan Halder, 35 yrs R/o Prothrapur & Gautham Kaviraj S/o Mr. Jaganda Kaviraj, 38yrs, R/o Port Mout.
These operations took place under the close supervision of SDPO (SA) Mr. Nishant Gupta under the overall supervision of Mr. Deepak Yadav, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District. The public is requested to pass information related to drugs at 03192-234216 or 100. The identity of the informant will be kept secret.

Naresh Chander Lal visits Primary Health Centre Wimberlygunj

Port Blair, July 17: To see the cleanliness and sanitation under Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, Naresh Chander Lal Ambassador of Swachh Bharat Mission of A & N islands, visited the Primary Health Centre Wimberlygunj and interacted with outpatients/inpatients, visitors and staff of the PHC to maintain Cleanliness at the hospital as well as to their respective localities today.

He also requested to the Dr Incharge of the hospital to have mike for publicity to the entire nearby villages for the precautions for the prevention of diseases which spreads during Rainy season. Doctor in-charge Dr. Tamanna, Dr Geeta, Mr O Bashir Manarghat Pradhan, S I Mr. IftequarAli, Kanyapuram Pradhan Zameela and Sarpanch Wimberlygunj Mr Chander Rao also accompanied during the visit to SBM Ambassador.

Seva Niketan Pays Tribute to Gunner M. Dilli Rao

Port Blair, July 17: Mr B.Ishwar Rao, Councillor, P.B.M.C and Mr Mangat Ram, Secretary Seva Niketan Garlanded the statue and paid tributes to Shaheed M.Dilli Rao Gunner of 51 Field Regiment ( Artillery ) who laid down his life, fighting insurgents in Assam on 13th July 2002. At a function held on Saturday 13th July 2019 at Dairy Farm Junction, which was attended by Mr A. Chakraborthy, Warden and Inmates of Seva Niketan, Parents of the braved son, relatives, youths and the general public paid floral tributes to M. Dilli Rao. Inmates of Seva Niketan presented a patriotic song on this occasion. Gunner M. Dilli Rao was a student of Govt. Sec. School, Dairy Farm. Mrm. Mangat Ram briefed about the life of shaheed M. Dilli Rao to the Inmates and present gathering.

ABVP National Vice – President visits Port Blair

Port Blair, July 17: The ABVP National Vice President Dr Chagan Bhai Patel along with national secretary Narendra Sapam and West Bengal & Andaman and Nicobar Islands state organising secretary Apangshu Shekar Shil visited Port Blair on an organisational tour. During their visit, they participated in the three days karyakarta abayas varg from 12th July to 14th July 2019 held in Saraswati Sishu Mandir School at Pathurgudda. Various sessions on the topics related to ABVP work and responsibility of an ABVP karyakarta in the campus and society and national reconstruction were taken by the national leaders’.Student karyakarta from JNRM, ANCOL, MGGC, and Govt. ITI, DBRAIT and Andaman Law College have participated in the varg. The Varg was inaugurated by Dr TVRS Sharma, Chairperson Police Complain authority, A&N Islands on 12th July 2019 The National Vice President also held discussions with the college teachers and students on the status and issues in higher education in Andaman and Nicobar islands. He left Port Blair on 17th July 2019.

Submission of Commercial Land Documents

Port Blair, July 17: In view of complaints received from various stakeholders in respect of various violations by Residential hotels and homestays running in violation of various norms of A&N Administration, it has been decided that the Residential hotels henceforth obtaining/applying for registration under Shop & Establishment Regulation 2004 have to mandatorily submit Commercial Land Use documents from the concerned and Breakfast/Homestay units seeking registration under Andaman & Nicobar Shop & Establishment Regulation 2004 need to submit registration form Tourism Department under A&N Bed & Breakfast/Homestay scheme.
It is brought to notice of registered residential hotels under Andaman & Nicobar Shop & Establishment Regulation 2004 that they have to mandatorily submit Commercial Land Use document or registration under homestay scheme as applicable within 7 days of publication of this press release to the office of the Labour Commissioner, Supply Lane, Port Blair. Failing which their Registration Certificate shall be cancelled and the same shall be informed to the respective banks, PBMC and Electricity Department for the necessary action at their end.

Awareness programmes on Swatch Bharat Mission

Port Blair, July 17: ‘Swatch Bharat Mission’ is one of the flagship programmes initiated by Govt. of India having the major component of Open Defecation Free (ODF) and Solid Waste Management. To implement SBM, PBMC has conducted several awareness programmes, however, desired outcomes are yet to be seen in the field level. To implement SBM, PBMC is conducting an awareness programme on Solid Waste Management in Schools and colleges, to bring behaviour change amongst their parents and neighbours and create a Healthy Sanitation Society. As a Pilot Project, 06 Municipal Wards viz Ward No. 08,12,16,17,21 & 22 has been chosen wherein complete Door to Door Collection, Segregation, Solid Liquid Resource Management Centers and processing will be implemented as per SWM Rules -2016.
The Moto of PBMC is to inculcate Swatchata in each and every Citizen of Port Blair and thereby achieve garbage-free city, PBMC, therefore, appeal to all the Citizens to extend their full co-operation and segregate dry and wet waste separately to the Sanitary Workers and become a part of Swatchata Mission.

Online New Electric Collection

Port Blair, July 17: New e-service venture for obtaining “Online New Electric Connection” has been launched by the Electricity Department. This facility can be availed under 4 site offices viz. Aberdeen Bazaar, Phoenix Bay, Haddo and Prem Nagar, Headquarter Division as a pilot project and will be extended to all the site offices under HQ Division and South Andaman Division, Electricity Department subsequently.
“All those who intend to obtain new electricity connection under the jurisdiction of Aberdeen Bazaar, Phoenix Bay, Haddo and Prem Nagar site office under Headquarter Division, can apply through online portal http://andssw1.and.nic.in/emcosp. The status of the connection can also be checked online through the same portal. However, the application in hardcopy will also continue to be accepted until further notice,” a release said here today.

1.95 mtr long crocodile caught; shifted to Biological Park

Port Blair, July 16: The Wildlife Division of Andaman’s Forest Department has caught a male crocodile measuring about 1.95 mtrs and weighing 55 kg on Sunday night from Ograbraj area of South Andaman.
According to reports a crocodile was sighted in creek area of Ograbraj recently by some villagers in the area following which the Wildlife Division was intimated. A team of Wildlife Division after inspection of the site placed a floating cage in the area, in which the crocodile got trapped on Sunday night. The crocodile was later shifted to Chidiyatapu Biological Park.

Labourer falls into sea from Swaraj Dweep Jetty; Dies

Port Blair, July 16: A person namely Mr. Mardhu, aged around 69 years, who was working as labourer fell into sea from Swaraj Dweep Jetty on Sunday, which resulted in his death.
According to details, the deceased was a resident of Madurai, Tamil Nadu and used to work in Havelock Jetty. The accident happened at around 8.15 AM on Sunday, when he was working near MV Wandoor Ferry. Sources said he slipped and fell into the sea. His co-workers tried their best to rescue him but failed, later his body was found nearly 30 minutes after the accident.
His body was immediately shifted to Havelock PHC from where after post mortem his body was dispatched for his natives today.
