Port Blair, Sep 02: In a rapid and effective operation, PS Rangat successfully intercepted an illegal drug transaction based on reliable intelligence. Under the leadership of Mr. Rahul L. Nair, IPS SDPO Rangat, a specialized team was promptly assembled. The team, led by SI Madhab Halder, SHO, PS Rangat including SI Abdul Sajeed, PCs K. Samir, Yashwant Rao and Sumitra Halder, along with two independent witnesses, moved swiftly to act on the information received.
Acting on a tip-off, that an individual namely Sanjeev Kumar Halder is in possession of illicit drug which he is trying to sell near transformer, janakpur, Rangat. Acting swiftly, the team positioned themselves discreetly near the spot. Shortly thereafter, the suspect was intercepted by the raiding team and conducted a search, resulting in the recovery of 10 gram of Methamphetamine drug from the possession of suspect namely Sanjeev Kumar Halder S/o Late Bharat Chandra Halder (42) yrs R/o Bhatubasti, Port Blair, now at Rangat. Following thorough interrogation, the accused person confessed to his crime. Subsequently, the accused was arrested and a case was registered at PS Rangat under the NDPS Act.
The whole operation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Rahul L. Nair, IPS, SDPO Rangat and overall direction and supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District.

Senior Citizen Arrested in Major Drug Bust in Shantipur area of Middle Andaman

Shantipur, Middle Andaman, Aug 20: In a major breakthrough, the Central Crime Station (CCS) unit of the Andaman Police arrested a senior citizen, Mr. Kiran Halder, in connection with a large-scale Heroin seizure in the Shantipur area under Swadesh Nagar Panchayat, Middle Andaman. The operation, which took place this morning, led to the confiscation of 410 grams of Heroin, it is learnt.
According to initial inputs, the drugs were initially discovered by Mr. Kiran Halder’s son, Mr. Kishor Halder, along the seashore near Cuthbert Bay area of Middle Andaman. It is alleged that Mr. Kishor Halder had previously sold nearly 500 grams of heroin in Port Blair, and the CCS unit recently arrested an individual in connection with that transaction.
The investigation into the Port Blair incident provided crucial information that led the CCS unit to Swadesh Nagar. Acting on this intelligence, the team apprehended Mr. Kiran Halder while he was allegedly handing over a parcel containing 410 grams of Heroin to a prospective buyer.
As per sources, Mr. Kishor Halder, the primary suspect in the case, had instructed his father to deliver the parcel to the buyer while he was away on business in Cuthbert Bay. However, the CCS unit intervened and arrested Mr. Kiran Halder during the handover. The CCS unit is currently conducting an intensive search for Mr. Kishor Halder. Further details are awaited.
DGP, A&N Islands inaugurates Model Interrogation Room & inspects Model Barracks & state-of-the-art mess
Port Blair, Aug 08: Mr. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, Director General of Police, A&N Islands, on his visit to North & Middle Andaman District had inaugurated the newly established “Model Interrogation Room” at Police Station Mayabunder on 07/08/2024. This marks a significant step towards enhancing the infrastructure and efficiency of the police in the region.
The Model Interrogation Room is equipped with the latest technology and facilities, ensuring a secure and conducive environment for investigative procedures. It is a big step forward in our commitment to enhance security & efficiency. The DGP has also visited the Model Barrackand newly FSSAI certified Mess at PS Mayabunder, both of which are integral to the well-being and morale of the police personnel. The Model Barracks offers comfortable and hygienic accommodation with all essential gadgets for a comfortable life for police personnel, while the FSSAI-certified mess guarantees that nutritious and safe meals are provided, adhering to the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.
The DGP emphasized the importance of these developments in boosting the operational capabilities and welfare of the police force. The inauguration of the Model Interrogation Room, e-Malkhana, Model Barrack, and FSSAI-certified mess reflects the commitment to upgrading facilities and ensuring a better working environment for police personnel.

N&M Andaman District Police Continues Hard on Bootleggers
Port Blair, Aug 06: Continuing its crackdown on the illicit liquor, Handia, illegal sale of IMFL & illicit Ganja, the District Police of North & Middle Andaman with the help of local informers conducted regular raids and searches in jungles. During the month of July-2024, the teams of various Police Stations, headed by SHOs and officers conducted raids & massive jungle search operations. In these search operations, around 450 litres of Lehan & 35 Kg Handia were destroyed. Also 28 Nos. cases under Excise Regulation have been registered in which 178 Nos. IMFL bottles of different quantities have been seized and 28 persons were arrested. All the History Sheeters are regularly being checked by the beat staff, making it hard for them to be involved in any illegal activity and a fresh history sheet of bootleggers has opened for surveillance.

PS Billiground Cracked a Theft Case within 24 Hours
Port Blair, Jul 31: On 30/07/2024, a complaint of theft of gold ornaments and cash was reported at PS Billiground while the complainant and their family were away in Rangat. Acting promptly on the complaint, a case of theft under relevant sections of BNS was registered at PS Billiground.
Under the leadership of SI MV Shiju Kumar, SHO PS Billiground, a dedicated team was constituted, including ASI Muthu, HC P.K. Kindo, and PCs Charles, Mustafa, and Durga Rao. The team immediately began collecting intelligence at the scene of the theft. They conducted an extensive search for the culprit, alerted informers, and gathered intelligence.
Based on the information gathered, a suspect was identified. Swift technical surveillance was conducted to track the suspect’s whereabouts at the time of the incident. The team later apprehended the suspect, who confessed to the crime during interrogation. As a result of the team’s diligent efforts, within 24 hours of the report, the stolen property was successfully recovered from the accused namely Saurab Saha S/o Ashutosh Saha (23) yrs, Private Worker, R/o Hari Nagar.
The police commend the community’s cooperation and highlight the importance of swift action and collaboration in securing justice. The recovered items and evidence will be crucial in the legal proceedings against the accused.

South Andaman District Police Achieve Major Success in Vehicle Theft Recovery
Port Blair, Jul 31: The South Andaman District Police has succeeded in solving a Motorcycle theft case within 24 hours, showing professionalism resulting in arrest of accused person and recovery of the theft vehicle.
On 29/07/2024, a motorcycle theft case has been registered at PS Aberdeen and swiftly a team was formed, comprising of SI Arti Roy, HC Vinod Kumar, PCs Jairaj, Jagdish Babu, Surender Singh Yadav, P. Mohd. Rafique and Naw Eileen under the supervision of Inspector Vishal Ram SHO PS Aberdeen to search the theft motorcycle. Working diligently, the team successfully apprehended the accused person namely T. Sai Kumar S/o Mr. T. Danaiah (23) yrs R/o Dairy Farm, Japan Road and recovered the theft vehicle from his possession within a short span of 24 hrs.
Further, during the period from 1st January, 2024 to 30th July, 2024, total 05 MV theft cases have been registered in South Andaman District i.e. 03 cases at PS Aberdeen and 02 cases at PS Pahargaon. The staff of South Andaman District have worked diligently, gathered information from reliable sources and searched for vehicles using human & technical surveillance, which led them in recovery of 04 stolen vehicles and apprehension of 03 accused persons. This accomplishment highlights the South Andaman District Police dedication towards implementing effective strategies aimed to reduce vehicle thefts cases.
The South Andaman District Police are determined in maintaining this positive momentum and will persist in employing innovative techniques and fostering community collaboration to combat crime. Police Station Shaheed Dweep Confiscates 415 Gms Ganja and Arrests One Person
Port Blair, Jul 30: Acting decisively on reliable intelligence, the Shaheed Dweep Police carried out a raid that led to the arrest of an individual involved in the illegal possession of 415 grams of ganja.
On 28th July 2024, upon credible information on illegal possession of ganja, a team was swiftly constituted at Police Station Shaheed Dweep comprising of PCs Abdul Wahab C.P, Apurba Biswas, Neelima Kumari Baa, Mercy and HC (D) Manoj Kumar Ekkasupervised by SI PR Pradeep, SHO Shaheed Dweepand conducted raid near Neil Kendra ward No.04, Shaheed Dweep. During the raid, the team recovered 415 grams of ganja from the possession of the accused Anjala Devi W/o Jogi Indwar (48) yrs, R/o Neil Kendra, Shaheed Dweep.
The accused person was involved under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act 1985 and the recovered ganja was seized on the spot after observing all codal formalities. That being women and night hours accused was directed to join interrogation at PS Shaheed Dweep in the morning hours. On 29/07/2024 morning at 0845 hrs the accused lady was arrested and all codal formalities were executed and the accused lady was released on bail as per law.

Violent Robbery and Molestation case reported from Dollygunj; PS Pahargaon Nabs Three Accused Persons
Port Blair, Jul 29: In a shocking incident on 26/07/2024 at around 1030 hrs, a couple walking in the Dollygunj area was assaulted and robbed by three individuals. The perpetrators, after stopping their car abruptly on the main road, engaged in a physical altercation with the couple, using foul language and misbehaving. They snatched gold ornaments from the victims, molested the lady, and fled the scene.
Responding swiftly to the crime, the police team from PS Pahargaon, under the supervision of Insp. Rahul, acted promptly. They registered a case under relevant sections of BNS 2023 based on the complainant’s statement. A dedicated team, led by SI P Jeevan and supported by HCs Sunil Singh Yadav, Ibrahim Ali, Vinod, PCs Shiv Kumar, Santosh Lall, and Ct Peter, was formed to track down the suspects.
Through diligent investigation and strategic resource deployment, the police identified and apprehended the suspects: Dinesh (25) of Dollygunj Happy Colony, Rupesh Kumar Thapa (28) also of Dollygunj Happy Colony, and S. Siva Raj (24) of Guptapara. The accused were arrested and presented before the Hon’ble Court, where they were remanded to judicial custody.

A&N Police Recognizes Exceptional Service at Investiture Ceremony
Port Blair, Jul 25: In a momentous event today, the Andaman and Nicobar Police held an investiture ceremony in which, the Chief Guest of the event, Mr. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, DGP, Andaman and Nicobar Island honoured the exceptional dedication and distinguished service of 143 Officers and personnel, who have significantly contributed to the safety, security, and well-being of our community.
During the ceremony, the prestigious Ati-Utkrisht Seva Padak and the Utkrisht Seva Padak, instituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs, were awarded to 32 and 70 officers respectively, acknowledging their exemplary service performed with conspicuous devotion, skill, and courage over a continuous period.
In addition to these awards, 35 DGP’s Commendation Discs were awarded across three categories—Gold, Silver, and Bronze—recognizing the unwavering commitment, bravery, and excellence of Police personnel in their respective fields throughout their service. This marks the first time in the history of the A&N Police that the DGP’s Commendation Disc has been awarded, made possible by the visionary foresight of the DGP, ANI. Furthermore, six recipients from the Fire Service and Home Guard were honoured with the DG FS CD and HG Commendation Disc.

Drug Bust in Andaman: PS Crime & Economic Offence seize 5.7 Kg Ganja, Apprehend Three
Port Blair, Jul 23: On July 21, 2024, acting on a specific intelligence received from a reliable source, a police team comprising Inspector Girish Kumar, SHO, PS Crime & Economic Offence (C&EO), SI Parvash, SI, Mohd. Rahil Islam of PS Anti-Narcotics HC/Sanjay Kujur, HC/K. Venkateshwar Rao, PC/N. Thangaraj and PC/K. Rajendran, PC/Srinivas Rao conducted a raid at Lamba Line opposite Divyum Minor. During the operation, the team seized 5.770 Kgs. of Ganja from the possession of 1) Kartick Mistry S/o Late Gourango Mistry (69) yrs Farmer R/o Shantipur. Swadeshnagar, North and Middle Andaman 2) C. Ummar S/o C. Ahmed Kutty (48) yrs Forest Mazdoor R/o Lillypur, Haddo. They were promptly arrested on the spot following the due legal procedure as per the new criminal laws.
A case under relevant sections of NDPS Act-1985 has been registered at PS C&EO. The entire operation took place under the command of Mr. Ajay Rai, DANIPS, Dy.SP(CID) and under the overall supervision of Mr. Mohd. Irshad Haider, IPS, SP (CID).
During the course of investigation, involvement of another accused Nippin Sarkar S/o Late. Nagendra Nath Sarkar (54) yrs R/o Nayasahar has been unearthed. He has also been arrested on 23/07/2024 and will be produced before the Hon’ble Court.
After thorough interrogation, it was revealed that C. Ummer and Nippin Sarkar had previously procured ganja through Kartick Mistry and a local resident of Billiground. They bought the ganja from a permanent resident of Kolkata who is the main supplier. C. Ummer and Nippin Sarkar financed the flight tickets and paid the main supplier for the ganja via online transfers. The purchased ganja was then divided among C. Ummer, Nippin, and Kartick Mistry for resale at higher prices in these islands.
Andaman and Nicobar Police continue its relentless detection to curb illegal activities and bring those responsible for such offenses to justice following the procedures of new criminal laws.
