Car Nicobar, Oct 14: The Grand Finale of 1st Nicobar Police Idol, 2019 was organized at Car Nicobar on 12th October, 2019. 11 Finalists from different Police Stations of Nicobar District competed with each other to win Nicobar Police Idol of dance and singing. These 11 finalists were selected based on the auditions conducted in all the Police Stations of Nicobar district during the last 03 months. The trophies for best dancer and singer were awarded to Home Guard Ignatious and Home Guard Vipin Kumar respectively based on their performances in Grand Finale. PC/Veera Swamy and PC/Shankar won the runner up trophies in dancing and singing categories. The Grand Finale was attended by many dignitaries including Dr.Monica Priyadarshini, DC/Nicobar, Sh.Rajeev Kumar, SP/Nicobar, senior officers from district administration and police, Tribal leaders and police families. It turned out to be a Gala Night of dance & music which was enjoyed by the audience. Nicobar Police Idol has not only provided a platform to police personnel for showcasing their talent but also aimed to refresh and de-stress them amid their busy schedule.
Evening Mass Dharna at Tiranga Park by NGGOA
Port Blair, Oct 14: The Non Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, A & N Islands is organising an Evening Mass Dharna at Tiranga Park, Port Blair on 15.10.2019. The Dharna programme will be inaugurated by Com. B Chandrachoodan, General Secretary, CITU at 4 pm. Similar programmes will be organised by the Association all over the Islands on 15.10.2019 as part of nation-wide agitation called by the Confederation of Central Govt. Employees and Workers, New Delhi. The Confederation’s call for nation-wide agitation is to press the 10-point Charter of Demands submitted to Govt. of India. The demands includes (i)Scrapping New Contributory Pension Scheme (ii)Settlement of 7th CPC issues (iii)Filling-up 7 lakhs vacant posts (iv) Regularisation of GDS and all Casual/Contract employees (v)Withdrawal of the draconian FR 56(j) and stop compulsory retirement, etc.
The Association has also submitted a Charter of various local demands of employees working under A & N Administration and demanded early settlement.
Husband arrested by police for murdering his wife

Port Blair, Oct 13: An information was received by Police unit of PS Pahargaon this evening that a lady namely Mrs. Kamla Sardar was found dead, under mysterious circumstances, in her house at Dollygunj, Shiv Colony.
The lady was soon transferred to PHC Garacharma.
Later during interrogation by police the husband of the lady, Mr. Sunil Sardar reportedly accepted his guilt that he killed his wife by strangulating her with a rope. He reportedly accused that his wife had extramarital affairs.
A case under section 302 IPC has been registered against the accused at PS Pahargaon and the accused was arrested by police. The accused was working as welder in a private firm while the victim was working in some tiles shop.
Members of UTCPCR visit tuition centers as part of regular check up

Port Blair, Oct 13: Mrs. Sampa Banerjee and Mrs. Neeta Agarwal the members of UT Commission for protection of child rights visited several coaching centers yesterday as part of a regular check up.
During the visit Mrs Sampa Banerjee and Mrs Neeta Agarwal had found that the coaching centers they visited are not following the proper guidelines of running a coaching center and thus they have instructed them to follow the same with immediate effect.
The coaching centers visited by the members were Chanakya, Gyan Kendra, SCAS Coaching, Equal Sign and few others at Junglighat area.
Late Night Patrolling; Several arrested for late night roaming under mischievous circumstances

Port Blair, Oct 13: In order to curb down the theft, late night accidents and miscreants, police teams of PS Pahargaon, PS Chatham and Aberdeen under the direction of SP District organised a special drive and arrested nearly 35 people found involved in late night roaming under mischievous circumstances.
Lot of complaints were received from local people that some groups of boys create mischief late night and mostly many thefts are occurring in various localities of Port Blair city.
According to public, this drive by police is highly appreciable and this must be conducted regularly so that the miscreants of the society could be kept under control.
The SP of South Andaman district Mr. C.Manoj was present on the field during the drive.
First Andaman Tourism Award receives huge response; Prominent individuals and firms honoured

Port Blair, Oct 13: The first ever ‘Andaman Tourism Award-2019’ was conferred to as many as 130 awardees, including individual, Departments, news papers, Electronic Media Units, tour operators, hotels and restaurants at a function held in the DBRAIT auditorium here yesterday.
The chairperson, PBMC, Mr. N K Udhaya Kumar was the chief guest while the Tamil Film Actor, Mr. R Sarath Kumar was the special invitee and Mr. Kalaimamani V K T Balan, President, Tamil Nadu Tour & Travel Association was the guest of honour. The programme was organized by the Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO), Port Blair.
Addressing the gathering, the chief guest appreciated the initiatives of AATO in promoting tourism in the islands. This award has been instituted with the objective to encourage tourism stakeholders to do their best in promoting tourism, he said and congratulated the organizers of the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sarath Kumar appealed to one and all join together, breaking all barriers and develop these islands into the best tourist destination. He also expressed his desire to collaborate in promoting tourism in these beautiful islands.
In his presidential address, Mr. M Vinod, President, AATO and Organizing Chairman, Andaman Tourism Award-2019 informed that the award aims to felicitate tour operators, who have worked relentlessly in promoting tourism. He expressed gratitude to everyone who supported AATO in organizing the programme.
The award distribution ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks, proposed by Mr. Tanveer Singh, President, Youth Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

South Andaman Police Solves Burglary Case Within 24 Hours
Port Blair, Oct 13: On 12/10/2019, a written complaint was received at PS Aberdeen from Shri M. Shamsher Ali, Proprietor of Mars Auto Spare Parts, Phoenix Bay regarding theft of Rs. 25000/- cash by some unknown person by broking locks of his shop. Upon the complaint, a instant case was registered at PS Aberdeen under relevant section of IPC.
Immediately a team led by SI Jeevan, HC Sunil Singh, PCs Suresh Kumar & Vinod Linya was constituted under Inspector Sanjay Kumar, SHO PS Aberdeen. The team gathered information and suspect persons were interrogated and finally one accused namely G. Naresh S/o Shri. Shankar Rao, 32 yrs R/o Sisty Nagar confessed his guilt and stolen cash was recovered. Later, the accused was produced before the Hon’ble Court and sent to Judicial Custody Remand. The blind theft case was solved within 24 hours due to stringent efforts made by the team of South Andaman Police.The entire operation took place under SDPO, South Andaman and under the overall direction and supervision of Shri. Manoj C., IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District. South Andaman Police Cracks Mercury Burglary Case and Arrests Three Accused with 100% Recovery Of Stolen Items
Port Blair, Oct 13: On 07/10/2019, a written complaint was received at PS Aberdeen from Mr. S. Suparnan, Technician (General), Directorate of Lighthouse and Lightships, Port Blair regarding theft of Mercury weighing about 74 Kgs, which was kept in the workshop store by some unknown person.
Upon this, a case was registered at PS Aberdeen under the relevant sections of IPC and immediately a special team led by SI Jeevan, HC Sunil Singh, PCs Suresh Kumar & Vinod Linya was constituted under Inspector Sanjay Kumar, SHO PS Aberdeen. The team gathered intelligence about the accused persons and apprehended them after continuous search operation.
During interrogation, the accused persons namely Birsa Katchap S/o Late Munda Katchap, 46 yrs R/o Junglighat, Kuldeep Soreng S/o Mr. Cornallius Soreng, 41 yrs R/o Dairy Farm & Tarak Dutta S/o Late. Birendranath Dutta, 58 yrs R/o VIP Road confessed their guilt and the entire stolen properties were recovered from their possessions.

NCC Cadets visit Naval Ship
Port Blair, Oct 13: As part of training, a familiarization visit was organized for 282 NCC cadets of Army & Air Force of 1(A&N) Indep Inf Coy NCC to NVCC during Annual Training Camp (ATC) 2019.
The cadets were given a detailed tour of the Naval ships and all their inquisitive doubts/queries were patiently answered by the experienced Naval Staff. All cadets were enthralled by closely experiencing the life in a warship. A large number of cadets were inspired & motivated to join the Navy, after the visit.
