Kadamtala, Oct 11: A 2.5 meter crocodile was captured by a forest team of Kadamtala area today. According to reports after reports of sighting of crocodile the forest team had laid a cage in the region and today morning the crocodile was trapped in the cage. The crocodile was later loaded in a truck and was shifted to safe location. According to reports the team of Forest Department consisted of Mr. Eswar Hemrom (Forest Guard), Ravi Shankar Poddar (Forest Guard), Dilip Dhali (Forest Guard), Tapash (Mazdoor), Avijit (Mazoor) and others.

respectively in Zilla Parishad South Andaman in the election held on
9th October, 2019 . He has also congratulated Mr. Algar Swamy who won
the seat of Up-Adhyaksh in Zilla Parishad , Middle and North Andaman
in the election held on 4th October, 2019 and requested them to work
for the poor and needy. He has also wished all of them a grand success

Central Crime Station Raids Garacharma Area, Arrests 07 Gamblers
Port Blair, Oct 11: PS Central Crime Station has again cracked down on the gamblers in the Capital. Upon receiving the information that some mischievous elements are indulging in Gambling in a open area behind PHC Garacharma. Dy. SP(CID) Abhishek Gupta immediately formed a team under Inspr. Mahesh Kr. Yadav, SHO, PS Central Crime Station and directed the team to conduct raid on the spot. The team comprising of Inspr. Mahesh Kr. Yadav, Head Constable P. Mustafa, Sanjay Kujur, Constable N. Thangaraj, H. K Yadav, K. Rajendran reached the spot and found the information to be correct and spotted some persons gambling in the open.
The team immediately got hold of the gamblers who tried to flee and seized the board money and cash in their possession. All 07 gamblers were arrested and Rs. 15,440/- in cash was recovered from their possession with board money of Rs. 13,200/-. The accused were identified as 1). Yadav Rao R/o Garacharma behind PHC 2). Seron Kujur R/o Garacharma behind PHC 3). Birsa Gudia R/o Manglutang 4). Sukram R/o Garacharma behind PHC 5). Shankar Samaddar R/o Garacharma behind PHC 6). Jayaraja R/o Garacharma behind PHC 7). D. Rajesh R/o Garacharma behind PHC.
The Police have registered a case under section 5/7 of Andaman and Nicobar gambling regulation 1951. During the Pooja festival this is the 6th consecutive strike on gamblers within a month. The raid has taken place under overall supervision of SP(CID) Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS.
The Andaman & Nicobar Police is taking all possible steps in making these islands free from anti-social activity and keeping strict vigil over gamblers, smuggling and proliferation of narcotics substances in these Islands. General Public is once again requested to pass on credible information on narcotics substances, illegal sale of liquor, gambling or any illegal activity on the telephone numbers: 233307, 232586, 100, 9474233832 (SHO) & 8900910419 (Dy.SP CID). The identity of informer will be kept secret.

Port Blair, Oct 11: To facilitate the students of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the IGNOU Regional Centre, Port Blair is organizing special Video Classes on every Saturday. On 12th October 2019, during forenoon session, 10 am to 12 noon, CDs for BLIS students will be played. Dr. Shashi Bhusan Prasad (Librarian, Andaman Law College), Academic Counsellor will interact and facilitate the BLIS students, during Video Class. Similarly, during post lunch session 12 noon to 2 pm CDs for MA (Education) students will be played. The Video Class will be held at first floor of Kannada Sangha Building, IGNOU Regional Centre, Mohanpura. Each topic specific video CD will be of 30 minutes duration. The students of MA (Education), & Bachelor of Library Science, are informed through SMS/e-mail/ phone calls from Regional Centre. If the students are not able to attend on Saturday Video Class, they may come to Regional Centre on any working day from Monday to Friday between 10 am to 12 noon and 2 to 4 pm to watch the Video CDs. Port Blair, Oct 11: Indiatourism Port Blair celebrating Paryatan Parv 2019 “Dekho Apna Desh” on and from 02nd – 13th October 2019. As per appeal of the Prime Minister everybody should visit 15 places of India by 2022 and hence the Ministry of Tourism is promoting tourist destinations of India among the locals, young generations, tourists etc. Students of various schools, institutions, colleges are motivated through diverse activities like Quiz Competition, Seat & Draw, Poster making on the theme “Dekho Apna Desh”. On 11th Oct, 2019 at the premises of Junglighat Senior Secondary School in Port Blair, a Seat and Draw competition with 150 students was organized and a Quiz Competition with 100 students on “Dekho Apna Desh” was organized with the support of their extremely supportive Management.
PBMC puts efforts towards Single Use Plastic Free Islands
Port Blair, Oct 11: As part of nationwide movement on “Swachhata Hi Seva” on theme to make country “Single Use Plastic Free” from 11th Sept., 2019 to 27th Oct., 2019 in a phased manner.
In this regard, PBMC is being conducting various activities like competitions, waste segregation demonstration, Shramdaan work, etc., and exhibition to showcase the ill effects of Single Use Plastics by involving general public, Officials & School/ College Students, Banks & other stakeholders.
For above activities, so far 669 events have been completed, 23,793 volunteers have actively participated, 590 Shramdaan, 79 awareness campaigns have been made so far 20,863.9 kilograms of plastic waste have been collected &transported to segregation yard for onward processing.
Road Safety Campaign at Children Traffic Park
Port Blair, Oct 11: In order to promote Road Safety Awareness, on 10/10/2019 A&NI Traffic Police brought school children from Govt. Sec. School, Junglighat to Children Traffic Park, Marina Park, Port Blair. A total of 70 students from Class III to V and teachers of the school were present in the class. They were educated on road signages/traffic rules and regulations, further bicycles were provided to the children for riding around the park and learning about intersections, red lights, STOP Line etc.
A&NI Traffic Police has made a tentative programme for conducting road safety awareness classes for various schools of the city, in the Childrens Traffic Park upto December, 2019 and this campaign will continue to spread the message of awareness and safety. New Chairperson PBMC meets Secretary UD
Port Blair, Oct 11: The Chairperson, PBMC Mr. N.K.Udhaya Kumar today met Mr. Vikram Dev Dutt, IAS, Pr. Secretary(UD), A&N Administration, Port Blair and discussed various issues pertains to Port Blair Municipal Council. The Civic Chief appraised that various developmental activities in different wards are in halt due to paucity of sufficient fund. He also briefed about the problems being faced by the populace of extended area of PBMC as the Council could not fulfill the aspirations in terms of civic amenities at par with other wards. After giving a patience hearing, the Pr. Secretary (UD) assured to initiate necessary action to provide sufficient fund to the PBMC for undertaking various developmental activities in the larger public interest.
Island Terriers wins Chief Of Army Staff Championship Trophy
Port Blair, Oct 11: 154 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) Bihar – ISLAND TERRIERS has been awarded with the Chief of Army Staff Championship Trophy of Best Territorial Army Battalion of Indian Army recently in an event at New Delhi. The trophy was presented by Lieutenant General MM Naravane PVSM AVSM SM VSM, Vice Chief of Army Staff and was received by Colonel Upjit Singh Randhawa, Commanding Officer of the 154 Infantry Battalion. The prestigious award encompasses all aspects involving operations, professional skills, administration, discipline and documentation as the competitive parameters.
