ANC Celebrates 19th Raising Day: Cincan Reviews Parade

Port Blair, Oct 09: Andaman & Nicobar Command (ANC) celebrated its 19th Raising Day by conducting a Ceremonial Parade with contingents of all four components on 08th October 2019. The Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN), Vice Admiral Bimal Verma, AVSM, ADC reviewed the parade at INS Utkrosh and awarded Unit Citations for outstanding performance to BVY (PBR), 282 (I) Fd Wksp Coy (EME) and GE (I) 866 EWS. The parade exhibited the sense of discipline and professionalism of the personnel through their exceptional turn out, bearing and drill movements.
In his address at the Ceremonial Parade, CINCAN conveyed his heartiest felicitations to all the personnel and families of ANC on the occasion of the 19th Raising Day and acknowledged their contribution towards the operational readiness of ANC. He lauded the personnel on the achievements of the Command over the last few years, which included efficient safeguarding of the A&N Islands, the coastline and the EEZ, successful completion of various national and multi-national level exercises, HADR missions and aid to the Civil authorities as well as curbing of poaching and human trafficking. He also spoke about the building up of force levels including men, weapons and equipment over a period of time in furtherance of the Command’s goals. Commander-in-Chief elucidated about several important projects of strategic significance that are underway to improve inter-island connectivity for the general populace of A & N Islands as well as the efforts towards improving quality of life of the families of the personnel of ANC. Vice Admiral Bimal Verma also appreciated the efforts of the members of the Defence Wives Welfare Association (DWWA) in raising social awareness through various campaigns such as Segregated Waste Management, voluntary Organ Donation, Blood Donation Camps, etc.

Quiz Competition: 550th Birth Anniversary Celebration of Guru Nanak Dev Ji

Port Blair, Oct 09: To celebrate the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Field Outreach Bureau (FOB), Port Blair will organise a Quiz Competition on the life and philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev Ji on the 12th of October, 2019 for the students of Class VIII to XII of the Islands. The venue of the Quiz Competition will be Khalsa Public Senior Secondary School, Port Blair. Interested students and schools may send their names via email to pibportblair@gmail.com or directly to the Principal, Khalsa Public Senior Secondary School. Interested students may also report at Khalsa Public Senior Secondary School on the 12th of October, 2019 at 9:30 AM for spot-registration. The competition will start at 10 AM. Winners of the competition will be suitably awarded. Those interested may contact FOB/Press Information Bureau (PIB) on 03192-230251 for more details.

Application invited for allotment of stalls for ITF-2019

Port Blair, Oct 9: Application are invited from the interested entrepreneurs/firms/individuals/Govt. departments for allotment of Food/ General stalls during Island Tourism Festival-2019, which is schedule to be held from 6th to 15th November 2019 (10 days) at ITF Ground. The stalls will be allotted to the selected applicants as per the terms and conditions laid down in the application forms.
The application form, along with the terms and conditions for allotment of stalls may be obtained from the Tourism Section of the Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism on payment. The last date for submission of application form is Oct 16, 2019.

Implementation of One way

Port Blair, Oct 09: It has been decided to implement a controlled one way system from Veer Savarkar International Airport Exit Gate to Dairy Farm Junction on a Pilot Basis from 11/10/2019 onwards the time for the same shall be from 07:30 A.M to 09:30 A.M. At the time of one way, vehicles will move on both the lanes for smooth traffic movement. All the commuters, residents, travelers and drivers etc. are expected to obey the rules and cooperate with the A&N Islands Traffic Police in makingthe city free of traffic jams. Mountain Trekking On Mt.Harriet

Port Blair, Oct 9: Mountain trekking was organized at Mt. Harriet National Park for NCC Army and Air Force Cadets on 08 Oct 19 as a part of ongoing Annual Training Camp. A total of 282 cadets 11 Associate NCC Officer/Care Taker and 06 Instructor staff of 1(A&N) Independent Infantry Company NCC participated in the event. During the course of trekking, cadets were taught about the basic requirements and the various aspects of the trekking. Cadets were familiarized with the local flora and fauna of the National Park while trekking. A total of 5 km trekking was undertaken.

Port Blair, Oct 09: In the 26th episode of ‘Morning Tea –Aapke Saath’, All India Radio Port Blair will broadcast a LIVE phone-in programme on the topic ‘ Role of PBMC in making the city neat and clean’.
Chairperson of Port Blair Municipal Council Shri.N.K.Udhaya Kumar will be the guest in the Studio answering to the queries of the listeners on the above said topic. Port Blair, Oct 14: The election for the 05th term for the Office of the Adhyaksh/Adhyaksha and Up-Adhyaksh/Up-Adhyaksha was conducted today in the Zilla Parishad Community Hall (near Murugan Temple) at Mayabunder by Mr. Awanish Kumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman District, Mayabunder at 11.00 AM. Mr. Dipankar Mistry, Zilla Parishad Member, Madhupur and Mr. R. Alager Swamy, Zilla Parishad Member, Sundergarh were elected for the post of Adhyaksh and Up-Adhyaksh respectively.
The Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman District will administer oath of office to the newly elected Adhyaksh and Up-Adhyaksh of North & Middle Andaman Zilla Parishad for the 05th year term commencing from 11.10.2019 in the Zilla Parishad Community Hall (near Murugan Temple), Mayabunder on 10.10.2019 at 11.00 AM.

Issues related to higher education, affiliation, autonomy/accreditation of colleges of Andaman Administration, were also discussed.

Kuldeep Rai Sharma Lays Foundation Stone for Community Hall at Nanumaghar

Port Blair, Oct 04: On first October 2019 Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the Member of Parliament, A & N Islands laid the foundation stone for the Community Hall at Nanumaghar Gram Panchayat and later laid the foundation stoned for construction of CC road work at Manpur under Collinpur Gram Panchayat the function was presided over by Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman Mr. Sanjib Kumar Mandal, in presence of Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman/ Secretary (OL/Archives), Mr. Krishan Kumar, IAS, Miss Mariyam Bibi, Zilla Parishad Member, Deva Kumar, Zilla Parishad Member, Mr. Subir Chander, Zilla Parishad Member, Smti Preethima Kumari Tirkery, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Namanaghar, Mr. Mohd. Safiq, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Mithakari, Pradhan, Maha Dev Majhi, Panchayat Samiti Members, Bikas Biswas, Executive Engineer, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman Mr. Pradeep Prasad, and all PRI Members were present alongwith the Adhyaksh and Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman
Speaking on the occasion at Namunaghar and at Manpur, the Hon’ble Member of Parliament efforts and development of the youth particularly he highlighted the problem of drugs in the Islands. He further stressed the needs of playgrounds and sports facilities, while mentioning that the construction of Community Halls should be given a reconsideration, as the money can be put to use to some more development works involving the youths and women from the area. He advised that the present Community Hall, constructed by the Salvation Army and now needs renovation may be transferred from the Panchayat fund. He also spoke about the Mithakhari Bridge and about the drinking water issue in the area.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sanjib Mandal, detailed about the proposed work being undertaken by the Zilla Parishad and village Panchayat.
He further elaborated the role of Zilla Parishad in Development activities. While the Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman Mr. Krishan Kumar congratulated the villagers at Manpur and Nanumaghar. He requested residents of Namunaghar to find the activities they wants to take up in the Community halls, particularly the indoor games and skill development activities, so that the hall remains in use and serve the purpose.

Central Police Canteen Extension Counter Inaugurated at Car Nicobar

Port Blair, Oct 04: Central Police Canteen Extension Counter was inaugurated on 04/10/2019 at Car Nicobar by Shri Madhup Tewari, IPS-IGP (L&O), A&N Police in the presence of Shri Rajeev Kumar, IPS, SP Nicobar, Grp. Captain K. Tyagi, Chief Admn. Officer, Air Force Station, Car Nicobar, tribal council members, and local officials and members of public. This was long pending demands of posted and retired Police officers and their families of Car Nicobar which has been now fulfilled. This Extension Counter will not only make available daily use items at this remote location but also reduces the house hold expenditure of Police families by 20 to 25%. SP Nicobar Shri Rajeev Kumar, IPS in his welcome note discussed the journey of opening of this Extension Counter and thanked IGP Shri Madhup Tewari, IPS for sparing his precious time for the inauguration of the Counter. IGP Shri Madhup Tiwari told the gathering that our visionary DGP Shri Depender Pathak, IPS is the force behind all these welfare measures for Police Staff. Programme was ended with vote of thanks to the dias.
