Two missing residents found from Jungle after a search operation inside Sitanagar Forest

Port Blair, July 04: On 04 July 2021 a missing complaint was registered in Diglipur Police Station, in which it was mentioned that two people namely Mr. Ashim Das, 44 years, a resident of RK Gram and Mr. Tapan Dhali, 41 years a resident of Naveen Nagar, who went for fishing in Sitanagar Forest on 02 July 2021, did not return back.
Following the complaint, immediately a team was formed by SHO Diglipur Mr. NS Stalin, which was headed by Mr. Manoj Lall. The team consisting of Police Constable PC Aboobacker Siddiqui, PC Sameer Halder, PC Vishnu Kumar Reddy, IRBN QRT Commando Shiju Mathew and MK Adhikari along with 04 Forest Staff of Diglipur and 07 local villagers of Sitanagar started a massive Search Operation inside the forest, despite knowing that there is a threat from wild elephants.
The team carried, arms, fire crackers and phone with siren and hand held loud speakers.
As per details, while conducting Jungle search the team found both the person safe inside the forest after which both the persons were taken to Diglipur Hospital for necessary medical help. As per details after treatment both the persons were handed over to their family members.
According to details, both the missing men had lost their way inside deep forest, although in some point of time they received weak mobile signals but they were unable to find a way out of the dense forest.
The entire Operation was conducted under overall supervision of SDPO, Diglipur, Mr. RK Sharma and Mr. Vichitra Veer, IPS Superintendent of Police, N&M Andaman.

FPS to remain open all days from 6:00 AM to 05.00 PM in N & M Andaman

Port Blair, Jul 05: All the Fair Price Shops (FPS) will be permitted to open on all days from 06.00 AM to 05.00 PM in North and Middle Andaman district from 6 July 2021.
In an official order, the District Magistrate of North and Middle Andaman, mentioned that Fair Price Shops should strictly follow norms of social distancing by maintaining a distance of at least 1 (one) meter from a person and not allowing more than 5 persons at a time inside the premises.

Movement Restriction towards Subhashgram Bazaar withdrawn

Diglipur, July 04: Movement restrictions towards Subhashgram Bazaar from various villages in Diglipur Sub Division removed from 5th July 2021. Restrictions were imposed on 4th June by Sub Divisional Magistrate, Diglipur due to the surge of COVID-19 positive and ILI-SARI cases across Diglipur Sub-Division, in order to scatter the public influx to Subhasgram bazaar from different villages.
Now due to decline in both COVID and ILISARI cases as of now, the order is cancelled and from 5th July 2021, a release said.

DC, NMA assures Transportation arrangements for students to travel Port Blair for their exams

Port Blair, Jul 02: Dr. Angel Bhati Chauhan, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of the North and Middle Andaman District today said that transportation arrangements for the students of North and Middle Andaman to travel to Port Blair for their exams are being made.
Arrear Examination for CBCS students for UG/PG was postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic and is rescheduled from 5 July 2021. In regard to this, in a telephonic conversation the DC of NMA District said that the Bus arrangements are being made. “I spoke to Principal Concerned and they are making a list of students who will be travelling to Port Blair. We will be soon receiving the list of students from where and how many students will be travelling and on Sunday buses will be scheduled as per the requirements,” she added.
All students are requested to submit their names and further details at the District Control Room, so that no student should be left out, the Deputy Commissioner, NMA appealed.

Crackdown On Illicit Liquor By N&M District Police Continues

Port Blair, July 01: Continuing it’s crackdown on the illicit liquor, Handia and illegal sale IMFL, the district police of North & Middle Andaman has been conducting regular searches in jungles. In the just ended month of June, the teams of various police stations, headed by SHOs and sub-inspectors conducted 34 such search operations in the jungles. In these search operations, around 4500 litres of Lahan and Handia was destroyed. The strict vigil over the history sheeters and known bootleggers has also been identified. All the historysheeters are regularly being checked by the beat staff, making it hard for them to be involved in any illegal activity.
In the month of June, the district police has registered a total of 32 cases for the violation of Excise Regulation, in which around 38 bottles of various quantities of IMFL and 118 beer cans have been seized. Apart from this, more than 300 kgs Handia and 44 ltrs illicit liquor has also been seized.
With the good work being done by the police, the locals are coming forward and sharing information regarding the bases made by bootleggers in jungle for fermentation and processing.

Structural Works of Humphrey Strait Creek Bridge to complete by next Month; Inauguration soon: DC NMA

Port Blair, Jun 30: Dr. Angel Bhati Chauhan, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of the North and Middle Andaman District said that the construction work of NH4 is under progress, the two major Bridges are unfinished but works are on progress with speed.
On Tuesday, in a telephonic conversation, the Deputy Commissioner said that under NH4 package, two major bridges are under construction, and works on one of the bridges is heading towards completion.
She said that the much awaited Humphrey Strait Creek Bridge of North and Middle Andaman District is scheduled to be inaugurated very soon. The structural works of the Bridge will be completed by next month, and the second phase of ornamental works, like lighting etc has also been started, which might be completed within a month or two, the DC added.
The DC said that the N&M Andaman District Administration is also monitoring that due to heavy rain the movement of the general public as well as movement of essential goods, is not disrupted on ATR.
“Administration is ensuring that any damage to roads is being repaired immediately. The work of NH4 is under progress though there is lockdown, special provisions have been made for the work in progress so that there should not be any problem,” Dr. Bhati added.
The DC, NMA further pointed out that the COVID-19 situation in NMA District is almost under control; A &N Islands is facing the second wave COVID-19 but because of the effective proactive steps taken by the Administration from starting the situations are now under control.
Apart from this almost more than 45000 doses of vaccine has been provided to the people till, and within the next 15 days almost 20000 doses of vaccine will be provided. Meanwhile the NMA District will soon come under the highest coverage of vaccine in the District among the country, the DC mentioned.
“Also many restrictions against the movement of people were issued but as now the situation is under control, so the relaxation against the restrictions has also been issued simultaneously. In coming days more relaxation will be provided,” said Dr. Angel Bhati Chauhan.
The DC further said that now all non-essential shops are permitted to open on all days between 06.00 AM to 03.00 PM and the movement of labourers and persons engaged in agriculture and its allied activities are permitted beyond 03.00 PM up to 06.00 PM as per the order issued.
She further urged the general public to strictly follow Covid Appropriate Behavior. As situation is under control, people should not violate the COVID guidelines and also urged all the eligible beneficiaries to take their second dose of vaccine on time.
Altogether 10 vaccination centers are being provided sufficient doses of vaccines on regular bases.
The DC further pointed out that for the very first time a new initiative is being taken by NMA District administration that we are recruiting Civil Defense Volunteer, for which the interview will be conducted next week, so all the eligible and interested youths of NMA District are requested to participate in this initiative, this will also increase the handling capacity regarding COVID-19 or any other Disaster in coming days.

Shops in North and Middle Andaman can remain open all days between 6.00 AM to 3.00 PM

Port Blair, Jun 29: Modifying yesterday’s order regarding extension of Lockdown, Dr. Angel Bhati Chauhan, IAS, District Magistrate of North & Middle Andaman District today issued a fresh order which says that all non-essential shops are permitted to open on all days between 06.00 AM to 03.00 PM in North and Middle Andaman.
“All shops shall strictly follow norms of social distancing by maintaining a distance of at least one meter from a person and not allowing more than 03 persons at a time inside the premises. Any overcrowding on violation of social distancing will be responsibility of the shopkeepers and will invite line of Rs.4000/- for violation of social distancing norms and Rs. 10000/- for overcrowding in shops/establishments, along with sealing of shop for 14 days,” the order added.
Also the movement of labourers and persons engaged in agriculture and its allied activities have been permitted beyond 03.00 PM up to 06.00 PM as per the order issued.

17 kgs venison seized by Mobile Squad team of Middle Andaman Forest Division

Port Blair, June 28: On 28/06/2021 at about 0600 hrs, the team of AFEVS unit consisting of Mr. S P Roy Dy. Ranger, Mr. Baiju M Nair Forester, Mr. M Shabbir forest guard, Mr. Basant Lall forest guard, Mr. Sanjay Mondal, Mr. Anup Mistry mazdoors on a tip off went to forest check post Rangat, under Gram Panchayat Rangat & Range jurisdiction of Rangat & intercepted an auto rickshaw bearing registration No. AN01-D-6164. On checking three plastic bags of which two bags containing crabs of about 40 Kgs & one bag contains venison about 17 Kgs were found.
The Auto driver along with two persons was arrested & the venison, crabs & the vehicle were seized on the spot under relevant section of wild life protection Act 1972. All the accused were brought to the Range office AFEVS unit alongwith the seized materials (meat of spotted deer, crabs & vehicle).
Further interrogation/investigation the accused auto driver disclosed his name as Mr. Ranjit Sana S/o Late Sushil Sana R/o Laxmanpur under GP Urmilapur. He stated that the two persons hired his auto from Shyamkund village & asked him to go to Rangat and they carried three bags which were tied by rope & when he asked about it they said all the bags contain crab which they are going to sell to a wholesaler in Rangat market.
The other two co-passengers were identified as Mr. Dulal Biswas S/o Mr. Batul Biswas, R/o Shyamkund & Mr. Uttam Bachar S/o Mr. Shanti Ram Bachar R/o Bangaon respectively under GP Bakultala. After verification of all case related documents the same are being handed over to Range officer Rangat in original for further proceedings of the case. The case is under investigation.
The entire operation took place under the guidance of Mr. Vijay Kishen, Forest Ranger Mobile Squad Rangat & under overall direction and supervision of Mr. Satyaprakash Singh, IFS Divisional Forest Officer, Middle Andaman Forest Division.
Middle Andaman Forest Division has zero tolerance against any offence related to Wildlife or Forest and any other anti-social activities which prevails in the Reserved Forest area/Protected areas.

District Administration NMA distributes Ration Kits to Needy Children

Port Blair, June 27: The North & Middle Andaman District Administration in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic has taken various actions to strengthen the healthcare facilities in order to provide better care to the patients and also ensure the welfare of the children who have lost their parents due to COVID-19.
The Hindu Rashtra Shakti team of North & Middle Andaman handed over 04 ration kits to Dr. Angel Bhat Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner (North & Middle Andaman).
Dr.Angel Bhat Chauhan,Deputy Commissioner (North & Middle Andaman) along with HRS team distributed the ration kits to the needy children who have lost either or both of their parents due to COVID-19 or otherwise at Mayabunder. Around 04 Kits were distributed to the needy Children.
Dr.Angel Bhat Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner ( North & Middle Andaman) praised the HRS team Dr. P.K.Mandal, State General S Secretary, Mr. Dilip Kumar Das, District President, Mr. N.C.Mazumder, Mr. Jeet Halder and the whole team for their welfare measures.
The District Administration (N& M Andaman) ensured all possible support to the needy children who are badly affected during the pandemic by losing the breadwinner of their family.
The DC(N&M Andaman) has further urged the Civil Society Organisations to come forward for the help of such children. Further DC(N&M Andaman) has sought the cooperation of public in fighting the pandemic and reiterated that the Administration is committed to provide the best of services.

Naveen Nagar resident arrested for killing friend during argument over money

Port Blair, June 25: A resident of Naveen Nagar, Diglipur has been arrested by PS Diglipur today, under section 304 IPC, for killing his friend.
According to details yesterday night at around 11 PM heated argument erupted between two friends Mr. Vinod Kerketta, 37 years and Mr. Kamal @Pandi, 36 years, at Ganesh Temple area of Naveen Nagar. Soon there was a fight between both of them during which Mr. Vinod, overpowered Mr. Pandi and knocked him down.
According to claim Mr.Pandi became unconscious after which Mr. Vinod left the place and went to his home.
This morning at around 6.00 AM while crossing the area, a police constable spotted Mr. Pandi, who was dead by then. Soon the body was shifted to nearby hospital and after postmortem the body was handed over to the family members of the victim.
The accused Mr. Vinod was soon arrested under section 304 IPC (causing death o by doing any rash or negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide).
As per details Mr. Vinod was DRM in PWD while Mr. Pandi was private worker. The inquiry was conducted by Inspector, NS Stalin, SHO PS Diglipur under the overall direction of DySP, N&M Andaman, Mr. RK Sharma and SP, N&M Andaman, Mr. Vichitra Veer, IPS.
