Diglipur, May 28: A case of reported Elephant Attack has now taken a serious turn as the A & N Police on Friday filed a fresh FIR in this case suspecting murder.
Mr. Juliet Lakra about 60 years was found dead on 26 Dec at Pan Nallah near Karen Nalla at Diglipur. The Police of PS Diglipur registered an unnatural death case and after investigations a final report was submitted as unnatural death and it was believed that the victim was attacked by an Elephant.
Meanwhile the forest Department raised many doubts in this entire case. The department however, maintained that the death was not because of elephant attack.
It is learnt that considering the gravity of the situation, the Asst Commissioner Diglipur alongwith revenue officials visited the spot to verify the facts.
Now it is learnt that again another FIR was registered yesterday on the basis of reports of Revenue and Forest officials.
While the final investigation report of UDFIR has been already submitted, now registering fresh FIR on new findings is unique and the points mentioned indicates towards poor, lackadaisical approach in previous investigation and supervision done by Diglipur police itself.
Speaking on this matter DySP Diglipur said that “The Magistrate enquiry was ordered in this matter earlier, on the basis of Magistrate report a fresh FIR has been filed to clear the facts. As per the Magistrate report it may be a matter of homicidal or murder. The police as per earlier facts and statements of the nearby public had filed UDFIR where 3 ribs (8,9,10) and mandible (lower jaw) the deceased were allegedly broken by elephant crush and subsequently this caused the death of the victim.”
Now the Police has taken a complete u turn from its own investigation done in the UDFIR and is all set to investigate it in a entirely different perspective questioning its own investigation and undoubtedly raising eyebrows.
Now it would be interested to watch that after so many days of the incident how the Police Department will solve this case.
