Port Blair, May 22: The Botanical Survey of India, celebrated International Day for Biological Diversity on 22nd May, 2023 at Garden-cum-Arboretum. Joint Director & Regional Head Dr. Lal Singh, in his presidential address emphasized on biodiversity. Dr. Singh stated that biodiversity is essential for the balance of the ecosystem and plants play a very important role in terms of life and he stated that life cannot exist without plants.
On this occasion, a drawing competition for school students was organized. Students from over 10 schools participated in the competition. All scientists and staff members of the center, local people also participated and showed keen interest for conservation of Biodiversity. Dr. Anil Kumar Midigesi, Garden In-charge proposed vote of thanks.

 

Port Blair, May 22: To control animal population, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services conducted a special three days Animal Birth Control drive from May 18 to 20, 2023 at Veterinary Dispensary, Swaraj Dweep. A total of 20 dogs (10 males and 10 females) were neutered, out of which, 3 were stray dogs. Sterilization is the most humane way of reducing the population of stray animals.

 

Port Blair, May 22: The Office of the Development Commissioner (MSME), Ministry of MSME, Government of India has invited online applications from MSMEs for National MSME Awards- 2023 with a view to recognize their efforts & contribution towards nation. These awards are categorized in different categories viz Awards for Manufacturing Entrepreneurship, Awards for Service Entrepreneurship, Women Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurs belonging to the SC/ST category, Entrepreneurs belonging to the ‘Divyang’ category, Entrepreneurs belonging to States of NER.
The MSMEs can find complete details along with eligibility & qualifying conditions and can fill online applications on (hyperlink-https://dashboard.msme.gov.in/na). The last date of submission of online application by MSMEs has been extended up to May 31, 2023. Further details can be obtained from Br.
