Port Blair, May 30: As part of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ concept and as per the directives of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, Foundation Day of Goa was celebrated enthusiastically here today at Raj Niwas. A good number of people hailing from Goa State, residing in A & N Islands participated in the function. During the event, an interaction and experience sharing session was also conducted. A short documentary on Foundation Day of Goa was screened. The function concluded with high tea, group photograph and presentation of mementos to invitees.
The participants thanked MHA, Govt. of India and Raj Niwas for the initiative and in providing those opportunities and platform for interaction, a press release from Raj Niwas, Port Blair said.

Senior National Arbiter results announced
Port Blair, May 30: A Senior National Arbiter Seminar followed by an examination was held at Sambalpur, Odisha from 21st to 22nd May 2023. The seminar was organized by All India Chess Federation & AICF Arbiters Commission.
Around 30 participants from different states of India attended the training programme & the Arbiter examination in which Mr.A Janki Rao, from A & N Islands successfully passed the Senior National Arbiter examination & has qualified for the Senior National Arbiter Title.
He is further directed to register with All India Chess Federation (AICF) as Arbiter & get his FIDE National Arbiter License prior to officiating in any FIDE rated event.
Motivational Session Organized for aspirants in Ograbraj Coaching Centre by Mr. TSG Bhasker and Mr. Mohd. Aslam
Port Blair, May 30: A motivational and interactive session was organized for the aspirants studying for upcoming Group C competitive exams in Ograbraj Coaching Centre by Mr. TSG Bhasker, Chairman, TSG Foundation and Mr. Mohd. Aslam, Retired DySP, South Andaman.
Many youths participated in the session with extremely high energy. A generator set was donated to the coaching center on behalf of TSG Foundation.
Calling upon students to give their best for the upcoming Group C Exams, Mr. Bhasker and Mr. Aslam advised the students to utilize the most crucial time to prepare for the examination and achieve the goal.
Mr. Bhasker shared that hard work in a disciplined manner, along with cultivating the habit of reading will surely stand them in good stead all through their academic life and also later in their career.
Awareness Programme on Multiple Sclerosis Day 2023
Port Blair, May 30: On 30th May 2023, CRC, A&N-Islands conducted an awareness programme on “World Multiple Awareness Day 2023” in association with Government Nursing College under Directorate of Health Services, Andaman & Nicobar Administration at the conference hall of Govt. Nursing College. The programme aims to build community connection, self-connection and connections to quality areas for everyone affected by Multiple Sclerosis. It focuses on bringing the world together by forming a connection with each other as well as the self for the sake of better care.
Mrs. Afsa Bibi, Vice Principal, Government Nursing College, Andaman & Nicobar Administration chaired the programme and the faculties also participated in the programme. Mrs. Sumithmol, Resident Nodal Officer, CRC, A&N-Islands welcomed the gathering followed by Mrs. Saranyah, Rehabilitation Officer has been given introduction about CRC A&N-Islands. Mrs. Afsa Bibi, Vice Principal, Govt. Nursing College felicitated the programme and shared her interest to serve the Divyangjan community. Mr. Himadri Sekhar Debsharma, Prosthetics & Orthotics Consultant presented a session on RPwD Act 2016 & Mr. Abid, Lecture in Physiotherapy presented a session on Multiple Sclerosis, symptoms and Nursing management.
Totally, 40 students of General Nursing participated in the programme. Finally, the programme winded up with Vote of thanks.
Campaign on Mission life organized by BSI
Port Blair, May 30: Botanical Survey of India Andaman and Nicobar Regional Centre, Port Blair organized the campaign on Mission life in various areas at Port Blair. The campaign was led by Regional Head & Scientist Dr. Lal Singh. All officers and staff actively participated and interacted with the general public about Mission LiFE to motivate use of eco-friendly products and citing one of the examples and brief about an invention of reusable eco-friendly drinking straw – a notable discovery by Botanical Scientists as a novel way to replace plastic drinking straws.
