Port Blair, Dec 04: To commemorate the Pongal Celebrations, the Andaman Tamizhar Sangam organized an amazing Chess Tournament at it’s hall in Phoenix Bay, Port Blair on Sunday.
The event was graced by Mr. TSG Bhasker, Chairman, TSG Charitable Foundation along with several other dignitaries including Mr. Mohd. Zubair, Social Worker. He was warmly welcomed by the committee members of Andaman Tamizhar Sangam with a Shawl.
The tournament featured players from diverse age groups and consisted of both male and female players who showcased their chess skills and competitive spirit.
On this occasion, Mr. Bhasker commended the spirit of participants in the competition and wished them success. He also applauded the support and encouragement provided to them by their parents.
He further thanked the Andaman Tamizhar Sangam for their efforts in promoting sports in A&N Islands and organizing the event with perfection.

Haj Committee of India, Mumbai invites application from A&N Island for Haj 2024
Port Blair, Dec 04: The Haj Committee of India, Mumbai has announced Haj 1445 (H) – 2024(C.E.). The bonafide residents of A&N Islands desirous of performing HAJ during the year 2024 are requested to submit their application online themselves or they can also take the assistance of A&N State Haj Office.
The A&N Islands State Haj Committee has also set up a E-Suvidha Kendra for assisting Hajis in the Online submission of HAF.
• Applicant must read the Guidelines for Haj-2024 carefully before filling Haj Application
Form.
Applicant should possess machine readable valid Indian International Passport issued on
or before 20.12.2023 (or stipulated last date of application) and valid at least upto
31st January, 2025.
Applicant have to upload first & last page of Passport, Latest Passport size photograph with white background, copy of cancelled cheque of Cover Head and copy of address proof.

Chess training classes initiated for the children of Police personnel, A & N Police
Port Blair, Dec 04: Under the guidance and motivation of Mr. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, DGP, A & N Islands, as a welfare measure for police families, Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) in collaboration with the A & N Police, is conducting pro bono Chess Training classes for the children of Police personnel on 3rd Dec. 2023 at Drill Hall, Police Line, Port Blair.
Inspector Soloman Samuel, inaugurated the chess training class. SI Roshan George (Reader to DGP, A&N Islands), SI MA Rasheed (In-charge Sports) and R Kashthuri Bhai, Asian School silver Medallist were also present during the inaugural function.
FIDE Instructor, B Neelaiah conducted the training classes and emphasised that playing chess can develop 21st Century Skills like, Critical Thinking, Creativity, collaboration, social skills etc. apart from various other benefits. Around 40 children participated in the training session with great enthusiasm and enjoyed the training session & actively participated in the chess activities.
The chess training classes will be held once a week on every Sunday between 3.00 pm & 4.00 pm, exclusively for the children of Police personnel, A & N Police.
Death Mourned
Port Blair, Dec 04: Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands has deeply mourned the sad demise of Shri. P Thatchinamurthy, S/o Late. Peryasawamy and Father of Shir Palani Kumar ( Pradhan Gram Panchayat Humferygunj). Shri. P Thatchinamurthy left for heavenly abode on 03.12.2023.
In this hour of sorrow, the Member of Parliament extended his deepest sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace for the noble soul. “May the family find strength and solace in their memories during this time of irreplaceable loss. Our thoughts are with them in their moment of grief,” he said in his message.
World Disability Day 2023 Observes at CRC A&N-Islands
Port Blair, Dec 04: Composite Regional Centre, in collaboration with Hope Foundation and Ration Rasheed Foundation, organized a plethora of activities in honour of World Disability Day on 4th December 2023. The event aimed to entertain the Divyagjans of the centre and presenting their abilities and celebrate their accomplishments. The event took place in the centre’s premises, where children with disabilities, their parents, and the centre’s staff actively participated.
The programme was enlightened with the presence of The Chief Guest Mr. Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director, Directorate of Social Welfare, A&N-Administration, The Guest of Honour Mrs. Dr. Pragya Sharma, Director, ANIIMS, Port Blair, South Andaman and the Special Guest Mr., K Murugan Managing Director Andaman & Nicobar State Cooperative Bank Ltd.
The event commenced with the lighting the lamp ceremony at the premises of the Composite Regional Centre by the special dignitaries. The celebration began with the warm welcome speech by Mrs. Sumithamol S., Director, CRC-A&N Islands.
Mr. Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director, Directorate of Social Welfare, A&N-Administration, addressing the importance of inclusivity and providing equal opportunities for children with disabilities. He expressed his happiness for attending such a wonderful event and spare some time with the special children’s and also encourages the work of Volunteer Organization (Hope & Ration Rasheed Foundation) for supporting the event and makes the event a grand success.

Various events were planned for the children’s entertainment and engagement, the Music Dept. of ANCOL College, entertains the children with their flawless songs and dance programme. The staff and volunteer’s students from ANCOL College assisted the children throughout the activities, ensuring their safety and enjoyment. The parents of the children also actively participated in the event, enjoying the festivities alongside their kids.
As a token of gratitude CRC- A&N Islands provided momentous along with a certificate of appreciation to Mr. Diwakar Moorthy, Operational Head AKT Entertainments for sponsoring free movie show to the Divyangjan Children of CRC-A&N Islands, Mr. T. Deepak, Head Sai Institute for organising Nukkar Natak under Swachha Bharat Abhiyaan, Mr. Dr. P.K Mohammed Nawaz, HOD, Music Dept. ANCOL College for organising singing and dancing programme for the event. Overall, the World Disability Day celebration at the Composite Regional Centre was a grand success. It not only brought joy to the children but also created awareness about the abilities and talents of children with disabilities. The centre’s commitment to inclusivity and providing a nurturing environment for these children was evident throughout the event. It was truly an event filled with laughter, happiness, and a celebration of the incredible potential in every child.
Finally, Mr.T.Y Abid, Lecturer Physiotherapy proposed the vote of thanks to all the dignitaries and the gathering.
Death Mourned
Port Blair, Dec 04: Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member BJP & Former State President BJP-ANI has deeply mourned the sad demise of Haji Rahmatullah, (Aged 104 Yrs) R/o Junglighat, a courageous freedom fighter and esteemed member of the First Indian National Army (INA). His unwavering commitment to the cause of independence, even enduring incarceration in the Cellular Jail, leaves an indelible mark on our history, who left for heavenly abode today on 04-12-2023.
In his message he wrote that his legacy inspires future generations to cherish and uphold the principles he fought for.
Further Shri Jolly prayed to the Almighty for the eternal peace of the departed soul and to give strength to his bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
Embarkation Notice
Port Blair, Dec 04: The Vessel MV SWARAJDWEEP will sail from PORT BLAIR to CHENNAI on 06.12.2023 at 1000 Hrs as per the following programs.
1. Excess baggage will be loaded from 1400 Hrs to 1600 Hrs on 05.12.2023.
2. Embarkation of passengers will commence from 0800 Hrs on 06.12.2023. The embarkation of passengers will be closed one hour before the schedule time. Passengers reporting late will not be allowed to board the vessel.
3. Bonafide passengers may please note that : –
a. The vessel will sail only after completion of survey procedure which will commence on completion of embarkation of passengers for issuance of ‘B’ Certificate as per MS Act.
b. The accompanied baggage exceeding the prescribed norms is likely to be rejected. The size and weight of each package should be 1 Mtrs x 0.5 Mtrs. and within 20 Kgs. It must show in bold letters the name and the ticket number of the passenger. The packages found bigger in size and more in weight will be rejected. The excess baggages will be subject to double the rate of freight.
Note: The passengers are strictly advice to reach well in time as the embarkation of passenger and excess baggage will be closed one hour before the scheduled time. Those passengers arriving late will not be entertained to board the vessel.
CIARIEWA Bids Farewell to Staff
Port Blair, Dec 04: Central Island Agricultural Research Institute Employees Welfare Association (CIARIEWA) of ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair organized a function on 30thOctober 2023, to bid farewell to Mr. Sunil Chakraborty, STA, Mrs. K. Mangaiamma, Skilled Supporting staff on attaining the age of superannuation Mrs. Radha, Skilled Supporting staff on Voluntary retirement from service.
Dr. Eaknath B. Chakurkar, Director and Patron, CIARIEWA in his presidential address expressed his happiness over the conduct of staff farewell with involvement of everyone. He acknowledged the contribution made by all the three staff with grit and determination in their respective field of posting during their service period. He concluded his speech by saying that everyone in their tenure of service does karma which is acknowledged by the peer group members. He also wished the staff and their family members best wishes for good health and happiness in their journey and honoured them with a shawl and mementoon the occasion.
Dr.S.K. Zamir Ahmed, General Secretary, CIARIEWA introduced the house about the profile, length of service and significant achievement made by the outgoing staff in their respective field of posting i.e. workshop, administration, farm, CIF, library, Field crop, Horticulture etc.

MV Bharat Seema for Car Nicobar via Little Andaman has been postponed
Port Blair, Dec 04: This is to inform to the passengers/general public that due to Administrative reasons the scheduled departure time of the vessel MV Bharat Seema for Car Nicobar via Little Andaman on 06.12.2023 (Wed) at 0700 Hrs from Haddo Wharf has been postponed. Now the vessel will sail for Car Nicobar via Little Andaman on the same day at 0900 Hrs instead of 0700 Hrs from Haddo Wharf.
Inconvenience caused to the passengers is regretted.
