Two Unidentified and Decomposed Bodies washed ashore at Hut Bay

Port Blair, Dec 14: Two unidentified and decomposed bodies, one male and one female, have been found near Chattan area of Hut Bay, Little Andaman today. According to sources, one body was discovered near sea shore during the afternoon, while the other was found later in the day.
The bodies, both in an advanced state of decomposition, defy recognition, appearing to be approximately 10 to 15 days old.
As per information both the bodies have been recovered by police and efforts are on to find if there is match with missing person reports from nearby Islands.
However, highly placed sources said that the bodies might be of Rohingya people as in past cases of Rohingya boat accidents and throwing of bodies from Rohingya boats, while on their journey from Bangladesh to Malaysia, have been reported by International media.
Hence there is a need for police to carryout patrolling in nearby areas of Chattan area of Hut Bay to make sure there is no more bodies in the area.

Andaman all set to organise Island Tourism Festival-2023 from 26th to 30th December, 2023

Port Blair, Dec. 14: To show case the cultural fabric, diversity and ethos of rural India applications have been invited from interested artisans, entrepreneurs/firms/individuals engaged in the following activities for allotment of space during Island Tourism Festival-2023 which is scheduled to be held from 26th to 30th December, 2023 for 5 days at ITF Ground. The selected applicants would be provided open space of 0.82 sqm at a flat rent of Rs. 400/- for the five day event after assessment of the diversity, originality & uniqueness of product/activity by a committee.
• Local artisan selling handmade crafts, textiles, pottery artworks
• Traditional crafts like beadworks or fabric painting
• Mehendi (Henna) artist offering intricate henna design to the festival attendees providing a popular culturally rich activity
• Tattoo Artist which include temporary tattoo artist who can create a variety of design allowing participants to express themselves through body art without a permanent commitment
• Face painting to engage attendees with colorful & creative face painting incorporating cultural motifs or themes
• Handicraft from local artisans especially from Nicobari & Karen community to display & sell handmade crafts, fostering a connection between visitors and the Islands artistic heritage
• Jewelry making stations where attendees can design and create their own accessories using traditional material and techniques
• Hair braiding stations offering traditional or trendy hair braiding styles allowing festival goers to experiment with their look in a culturally inspired way
• DIY Tie-Dye providing participants with opportunity to create their own tie –dye garments using vibrant colours
• DIY candle making where people can craft their own candles using traditional methods and decorative elements
• Customize Merchandise allow visitors to personalize mementos such as T-Shirts, Bags, hats with culturally inspired design or their own creations
• Tarot card readers
• Juggling, Clowning, Balloon Shapes etc.
• Recycling art stations that create art installation from recycled materials to showcase the creative potential of reusing items to foster a sense of responsibility towards the planet.
The application along with samples/photographs and the prescribed rent for allotment of space have to be submitted to the Planning Section, Directorate of IP&T on or before 20th December, 2023 by 3 pm. Appeal for Timely LPG Cylinder Distribution in villages under Harinagar Gram Panchayat

Port Blair, Dec 14: In a request to the Deputy Commissioner of N & M Andaman, the Gram Panchayat of Harinagar raised concerns over delay in distribution of LPG cylinders in villages under the Panchayat. As per reports, villages including Harinagar, Pinakinagar, Jaipur, and Kamalapur are grappling with a month-long deprivation of this essential resource.
In this regard the Pradhan of Harinagar Panchayat Mr. Manojit Halder has written a letter to the Deputy Commissioner of N & M Andaman and mentioned about a recurring issue. These villages had previously faced a similar challenge which is mainly because of poor condition of NH4.
In the letter, the Pradhan appealed to the Deputy Commissioner to intervene and ensure the timely distribution of LPG cylinders to Harinagar, Pinakinagar, Jaipur, and Kamalapur villages. He also demanded for a systematic and regular supply, ideally on a monthly basis, to ease the hardships faced by the villagers.

TSG Bhasker demands for hiring high capacity helicopters for Andaman & Nicobar Islands

Port Bair, Dec 14: The ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker has highlighted the issue of lack of adequate seats available in the helicopters plying in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Mr. Bhasker said that the seating capacity available in the helicopters run by Pawan Hans in A&N Islands is very low. Sometimes most of the seats are occupied by the government servants and the general public are put to hardship for getting seats even if on an emergency basis.
“As you know the medical patients need immediate evacuation from places like Diglipur, Mayabunder and Rangat where the road conditions are very poor and at such time lack of having helicopter with high seating capacity causes tremendous problems to the patients and their families”, said Mr. Bhasker
Hence, he requested the Chief Secretary to consider the possibility of hiring helicopters with high seating capacity of around 20 to 25 seats so that the demand of the local population is fulfilled.

“Important Update on Document Verification for Group C Matric Level Posts”

Port Blair, Dec.14: The A & N Administration had released a Press Release in the Daily Telegrams dated 05.12.2023 regarding verification of documents/testimonials of all candidates who had appeared in the written examination in the Common category of Group C Matric Level posts held on 09.07.2023 and who applied/opted as one of the choice and possess the requisite technical qualification for the posts mentioned in the Annexure was held at TGCE, Auditorium from 08.12.2023 to 11.12.2023.
During verification, it has come to the notice that some of candidates had manipulated the Digital Application form by editing the choice opted for the posts. The R & E Cell of the Administration has shortlisted such applications. It is informed to the candidates that the Digital Application Form is highly secured by Bar Code and the master data is available with the A & N Administration, as such any changes/editing in the Digital Application Form by the candidates shall be viewed seriously.
The A & N Administration shall not consider such applications and the candidature of all such candidates shall be summarily cancelled as per Clause 13 of the Vacancy Notice No.4-13/022-R&E Cell dated 29.04.2023.
The A & N Administration is committed to conduct the entire recruitment process in a free, fair and transparent manner.

TSG Charitable Foundation and Voice of the Christ to the World jointly celebrates Advent Christmas with the widows of A&N Islands

Port Bair, Dec 14: In the spirit of the season of Christmas, the TSG Charitable Foundation in collaboration with Voice of the Christ to the World organized a heartwarming event to celebrate Christmas with widows. On Wednesday, many widows from different parts of Port Blair gathered in Voice of the Christ Campus, Garacharma and the event left an indelible mark on their lives, bringing smiles to their faces and warmth to their hearts.
The event was organized with the active support and coordination of Rev. Dr. Raja Wilson, Chairman, Voice of the Christ to the World and Dr. Sheeba Wilson.
The programme witnessed the gracious presence of Mr. TSG Bhasker, Chairman, TSG Charitable Foundation who was invited as the Chief Guest and Mr. Rangalal Halder, President of Congress Party along with Mr. Simson, Up-Pramukh, Ferrargunj, Mr. Saji Varghese, Social Worker, Ms. Diksha Dular, President, Youth Congress, Mr. Abhibhushan Ghosh, Vice-President, Youth Congress and Mr. Eswar Rao, Social Worker.
The event was filled with joy and gratitude as around 200 widows received an assortment of gifts from the TSG Charitable Foundation. “Downtime for Online Bus Ticketing Application ‘ANTS PATHIK'”

During this downtime, booking/cancellation of bus tickets will remain suspended.

“Pujit Akshat” from Shree Ram Mandir, Ayodhya Arrived at Campbell Bay

Port Bair, Dec 14: The “Pujit Akshat” reached Campbell Bay, the southernmost point of India’s territory, at Nicobar district of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Mr. Ranjan Singh, Secretary, VHP Campbell Bay received the Akshat Kalash from Swami Suddhananda Saraswati Maharaj, Adyaksh in the presence of Mr. Anoop Gopinathan, General Secretary, Mr. Ram Mandir Pran Pratishta Abhiyan Swamiti, A&N Islands.
The Pujit Akshat was welcomed by the Ram devotees at Campbell Bay jetty with garland and flower. The Akshat was carried to Shree Krishna Mandir with Swagat yatra (Massive Rally). Thereafter the AKSHAT will be distributed to all the households as an invitation for the celebration of the consecration ceremony (Pran Pratishta) of Ram temple on 22th January 2023 at Ayodhya in the local temples.

Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra campaign held at Ward No. 11 & 12

Port Blair, Dec. 14:The ongoing Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) campaign reached its 6th day in the urban areas, focusing on Ward No. 11 and Ward No. 12 today. The specially designed IEC Van for the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra received a warm reception at Ward No. 11, where Shri Sanjeev Reddy, the Ward Councillor, along with residents, extended a hearty welcome.
The day’s activities included a screening of a video presentation and the collective recitation of the ‘Viksit Bharat’ Pledge by both the public and officials present during the yatra. A Sankalp pledge, emphasizing the importance of collective participation towards the development of India, was administered to the gathering. An integral part of the Yatra was the ‘Meri Kahani Meri Zubani’ segment, where beneficiaries shared their personal success stories, highlighting the transformative impact of the Government’s flagship schemes on their lives. These testimonials added depth and authenticity to the event, showcasing real-life accounts of positive change.
The residents of Ward No. 12 extended a warm welcome to the IEC Van of the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ in the evening session. Videos showcasing Viksit Bharat, as shared by the Government of India were presented, reiterating the significance of the Sankalp Pledge. The ‘Meri Kahani Meri Zubani’ segment featured inspiring stories from beneficiaries, urging others to avail themselves of these transformative schemes. Knowledge-sharing sessions were conducted by representatives from various Departments, offering comprehensive insights into pivotal schemes including PM SVANidhi, PMAY, SBM, Ayushman Bharat, lending institutions etc. They encouraged citizens to actively engage with and benefit from these initiatives. The event acknowledged and felicitated three exceptional workers from both Ward No. 11 and Ward No. 12 for their remarkable contributions to the success of the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ campaign.
