Seat has fallen vacant for admission to Two Years B.Ed. Degree Programme in TGCE

Port Blair, Dec. 15: Due to withdrawal of admission by a candidate under PwD category, a seat has fallen vacant for admission to Two Years B.Ed. Degree Programme in Tagore Government College of Education, Port Blair. Since no more candidates are available under PwD category, this seat will be distributed among the available candidates under common list of Category-V. The counselling for admission to this vacant seat will be held on Dec.18, 2023 at 9.30 am in the College.
All eligible candidates who are desirous for taking admission to this course have been requested to attend the counselling on the date and time mentioned. Selected candidate will have to submit all the original certificates along with one set of photostat copies of all original certificates and requisite amount of fees on the day of admission failing which they will not be considered for admission.

Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra held at Ward No. 13 & 14

Port Blair, Dec. 15:The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) campaign was held at Ward No. 13 and Ward No. 14 today. The specially designed IEC Van dedicated to the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra received an enthusiastic reception as it traversed through these Wards, garnering warm welcomes from residents. In Ward No. 13, the day’s agenda featured a range of activities, commencing with a video presentation followed by a collective recitation of the Viksit Bharat Pledge by both public attendees and officials involved in the yatra. A pivotal component of the day’s proceedings was the ‘Meri Kahani Meri Zubani’ segment, where beneficiaries shared personal success stories, illuminating the transformative impact of the Government’s flagship schemes on their lives.
Later in the evening, Ward No. 14 welcomed the IEC Van. Engaging videos illustrating Viksit Bharat were presented, emphasizing the significance of the Sankalp Pledge. The ‘Meri Kahani Meri Zubani’ segment continued to feature inspiring narratives from beneficiaries, encouraging others to influence these transformative schemes for their betterment. Knowledge-sharing sessions, facilitated by representatives from various departments, provided comprehensive insights into pivotal schemes, motivating citizens to actively participate and benefit from these initiatives. Acknowledging the pivotal role of exceptional workers, the event felicitated outstanding contributors from both wards for their remarkable efforts in supporting the success of the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ campaign.

Table top exercise and mock drill Conducted

Port Blair, Dec. 15: In order to improve the skills of Beach Officer, Tourist Safety and Enforcement Team, Lifeguards, and Tourism Stakeholders of Corbyn’s Cove Beach and also to improve the co-ordination between them to make them confident and efficient enough to swim across any challenges comes on the way during their challenging nature of job, a table top exercise followed by mock drill was conducted at Corbyn’s Cove Beach here today.
The Beach Officer, Tourist Safety and Enforcement Team, Lifeguards and 20 Tourism Stakeholders related to various water sports activities i.e. Sea Kart, Jet Ski, Parasailing, Kayaking and FRP Boats participated in the exercise. Shri Aqeeb Azeem, Consultant of Directorate of IP&T was the resource person. He explained about the importance of Mock Drill, evaluation of response time during an emergency situation, importance of communication, how to implement emergency response procedure on ground in the form of drills etc. Through interaction, he tried to identify the strength and weaknesses of Beach Officer, TSET, Lifeguards and Tourism Stakeholders and also address their weaknesses/problems by providing suitable inputs on the spot.
Further, to practically implement the learning outcome of the exercise, a mock drill was also conducted. An emergency situation/scenario was created, wherein, a Sea Kart and a Jet Ski collided in the sea during their respective trip along with guests. The mock drill was successfully carried out by the combined efforts of Beach Officer, TSET, Lifeguards and Tourism Stakeholders/ water sports operators.
The mock drill was conducted under the overall supervision of the Director (IP&T) and concerned Officials of Directorate of IP&T were also present.

Last date for e-KYC of Ration Card has been extended upto 29th February, 2024

Port Blair, Dec. 15: All left out Ration Card holders have been informed that the last date for e-KYC of Ration Card has been extended upto 29th February, 2024 for the benefit of the Ration Card holders. The Department of CS&CA has initiated the e-KYC process of every member mentioned in the Ration Cards as per the directions of the Govt. of India. Hence, all the left out Ration Card holders (APL/PHH & AAY) who have not yet done their e-KYC due to any reason have been requested to contact any of their nearest Fair Price Shop along with their Aadhaar numbers and Ration Card to get e-KYC done for all the members listed in the ration card.
Ration Card holders can also approach the Directorate of CS&CA, Port Blair or their respective Supply Units for doing their e-KYC. Further, all Fair Price Shop dealers have once again been requested to make wide publicity among their Ration Cards holders and get their e-KYC done latest by 29th February, 2024.
FPS owners have once again been requested not to deny e-KYC whether the card holder is from any Fair Price Shop. FPS owners have also been strictly directed not to deny ration articles for simple reason that the cardholder has not done e-KYC. DGP to Inaugurate Annual Geeta Gyana Yagna at Chinmaya Mission

Port Blair, Dec 15: The week-long Annual Geeta Gyana Yagna organized by Chinmaya Mission will be inaugurated by Director General of Police Mr. Devesh Chandra Shrivastav, IPS on 18th December at 6 pm at Mission Auditorium. Swami Abhedananda Saraswati Acharya , Chinmaya Mission South Africa will be conducting the Yagna.
Swamijee will be giving discourse on the 15th Chapter of Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta in the evening from 6 to 7.30 pm. Morning session will be held from 7 to 8 am and the topic will be Bhikshu Geeta. Morning session will be held from 19th December onwards. The will conclude on 24th December, 2023. Mission has invited all the islanders for the Programme.
