CPI (M) Conducts Corner Meetings at Port Blair

Port Blair, Dec 26: CPI (M) Port Blair Area Committee has conducted door-to-door campaign and corner meetings at Haddo Ward No. 1, Buniyadabad and Prem Nagar on 24th, 25th and 26th December, 2023 highlighting various burning issues of the people like (i) frequent power cut, (ii) sky-rocketing price rise (iii) growing unemployment, (iv) corruption, (v) non-availability of stone chips, metals, etc.
Addressing a corner meeting at Buniyadabad, on 25th December, 2023, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee blamed the BJP-led central government for its all-round failure in resolving the burning issues of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. He said that prices of essential commodities are increasing unchecked throughout the country and the Modi-government could not fulfill its election promise of reducing the prices within 100 days of coming to power in 2014. He said that when BJP came to power in 2014, the price of Arh Dhal was Rs. 70 per Kg, but the same now costs Rs. 200 per Kg. People belonging to the poorer section are facing hardship due to the price rise.
Addressing the corner meetings, D. Laxman Rao, State Secretariat Member of the party said that the BJP government and its Administration failed to provide uninterrupted power supply to a small population of 2 lakhs living in the Port Blair town and rural South Andaman areas despite spending hundreds of crores of rupees.
SP Kalairajan, State Organising Committee Member of the Party while addressing the corner meetings at different places briefly explained the failure of the A & N Administration in resolving the pending demands of the working class in the islands. He said that minimum wages are not being revised by the Administration despite agitation by trade unions.
CPI (M) Port Blair Area Committee Members NKP Nair and KG Samkutty briefly explained the growing disparity among the poor and rich people due to the corporate-friendly policies of the BJP government at the center.

TSG Charitable Foundation distributes juice and water to devotees during Akshat Kalash Yatra

Port Blair, Dec 26: The TSG Charitable Foundation served water and juice to Hindu devotees during the Akshat Kalash Yatra in Port Blair.
Under the guidance of its Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker, the foundation installed a stall in front of Hanuman Mandir, Port Blair and offered refreshments to the devotees who passed by the Temple.
A large number of devotees from different parts of A&N Islands participated in the ‘Akshat Kalash Yatra’ and were happy with the noble gesture displayed by TSG Charitable Foundation.

TSG Charitable Foundation distributes refreshment among Prakash Yatra and Ayyappa Pooja Rally-Goers in Port Blair

Port Blair, Dec 26: Setting an example of communal harmony, the TSG Charitable Foundation distributed water, juice and biscuits to the devotees in the Prakash Yatra and Ayyappa Pooja procession on Friday in Port Blair, presenting a unified image of the Islands.
The Foundation installed 3 stalls in front of Main Post Office and distributed refreshments to the devotees. A Santa Clos was also present on the occasion to make the children’s happy.
Mr. TSG Bhasker, Chairman, TSG Charitable Foundation and Mr. Dakshin Bhasker along with all volunteers of TSG Charitable Foundation including Mr. Augustine Koilraj, Mr. Saji Varghese, Mr. Sebastian Tirkey and Mr. Ameer Bux also extended Christmas and Ayyappa Pooja greetings to the people who took part in the procession.

Congress President and Campaign Committee Chairman attends Lord Ayyappa Puja at Bambooflat

Port Blair, Dec 26: The ANTCC President Mr. Rangalal Halder and Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker took part in the Lord Ayyappa Pooja at Shiv Temple, Bambooflat.
They were accompanied by Pradesh Youth Congress President Ms. Diksha Dular and Vice-President Mr. Abhibhushan Ghosh during the visit to the temple.
Mr. Halder and Mr. Bhasker performed Puja with devotional fervour and also honoured the Temple Poojari and Committee Members on the occasion with a Shawl.
There was a huge crowd of devotees of Lord Ayyappa Swamy to witness the Puja.

TSG Bhasker holds talk with Chairman of Crescent International Group

Port Blair, Dec 26: Mr. TSG Bhasker, Chairman of ANTCC Campaign Committee had a productive interaction with Dr. C.P Ali Bava Haji, a renowned businessman, educationalist, and philanthropist who is also the Chairman of Crescent International Group and State Vice-President of Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), Kerala.
During the meeting, Mr. Bhasker discussed on common humanitarian priorities and challenges and ways to strengthen support to the marginalized people both socially and politically.
He also laid emphasis on the healthcare and social activities carried out by TSG Charitable Foundation in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Empowerment Program and Aid Distribution Inaugurated by Union Minister Shri A. Narayanaswamy at CRC, Brookshabad

Port Blair, Dec. 26: Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India, Shri A. Narayanaswamy today visited CRC, Brookshabad and inaugurated an awareness programme on Empowerment of families-persons with disabilities & distribution of Aids & Appliances for Divyangjans by lighting the lamp in the presence of the Director, Social Welfare, Shri Nitin Shakya, Director, CRC, Smt. Sumithamol. S, officials of the Social Welfare Dept. and parents of the Divyangjans.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that the CRC Brookshabad functions as a Centre for skill training, rehabilitation, advocacy and empowering Persons with Disabilities. This Institution is assisted by the NIEPMD which provides the service to all the disabled people, the Minister said adding that this CRC provides all types of services and advisories and works to empower PwDs to respect their inherent dignity, individual autonomy and effective participation and inclusion in society. He urged the parents of the differently abled children to utilise the services of this Centre for the betterment of their children.
The Minister said that the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India is committed towards the welfare of the people, especially the differently abled persons and have enough funds to meet all the requirements. He urged the authorities of the CRC to prepare a detailed report about the requirements in the CRC, Brookshabad so that need based fund can be released for the benefit of the Divyangjans. The Minister urged the concerned officials to provide Identity Cards to all the registered differently abled persons on priority so that they get assistance from different Departments too.
The Minster also distributed hearing aids and TLM kits to the beneficiaries on the occasion.
Earlier, the Director of the CRC, Brookshabad, briefed the Minister about the functioning of the CRC, the number of beneficiaries and the services provided to Divyanjans to empower them.
The CRC provides a wide range of services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation for people with disabilities. The Center also offers training and education programs for healthcare professionals, caregivers, and family members to help them better serve the needs of divyangjans. The CRC is part of a network of centers established by the Government to provide rehabilitation services to people with disabilities across the country. With state-of-the-art facilities, experienced professionals, and a commitment to excellence, the CRC is leading the way in providing comprehensive rehabilitation services to divyangjans in the region.
During the programme, a group dance was performed by the special children. The parents of the children also actively participated in the event.

Port Blair, Dec 26: As part of Island Tourism Festival 2023 from 27th to 31st December 2023, the Directorate of Health Services will be organizing a Healthy Baby contest on 29th December, 2023 from 9.30 am onwards at ITF ground, VIP Road, Port Blair. In this regard, parents hailing from South Andaman have been requested to participate in the Healthy Baby contest on Dec. 29 with their kid at ITF ground.
The details of Healthy Bay contest are as follows:-

Death Mourned

Port Blair, Dec 26: Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member BJP & Former State President BJP-ANI, expresses deep sorrow on the passing of Mr. Ch Satyanarayana, aged 67 Yrs, R/o Shorepoint, who left for heavenly abode yesterday on 25-12-2023. Mr. Jolly extends heartfelt condolences and prays for the eternal peace of the departed soul and to give strength to his bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss. The funeral procession for Mr. Ch Satyanarayana will take place today from his residence.
