Port Blair, Dec 26: As part of the Island Tourism Festival (ITF) 2023, the Department of Agriculture will be organizing a Flower Show on 28th December, 2023 at ITF Ground. During the Flower Show, competitions will be held on various Categories viz. Fresh Flower and Dry Flower Arrangement, Flat Bouquets, Garland & Rangoli Competitions.
The Application Form for enrolment of participants/farmers will be available at HVADA Cell, Directorate of Agriculture, Zonal Agriculture Office, Goalghar and Organic Horticulture Farm, Sippighat on all working hours and also the same can be downloaded from the Administration’s website. The last date for submission of the application form is Dec.26, 2023 upto 5 pm.

Ayushman App BIS 2.0 Launched for PMJAY Beneficiaries in A&N Islands
Port Blair, Dec. 26: The National Health Authority, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India has launched the Ayushman App BIS 2.0 as part of the Ayushman Bhav campaign. The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store by the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) beneficiaries who can create their PMJAY cards using this app. The PMJAY beneficiaries of A&N Islands having PHH and AAY categories of Ration Cards can create their PMJAY cards using this app. The PHH and AAY Ration Card holders can also visit the nearest Health Centres to get their PMJAY cards created. The Health Department, A&N Islands shall facilitate the creation of AB-PMJAY Cards for PHH and AAY Ration Card holders of these Islands during the Island Tourism Festival (ITF) to be held from 27/12/2023 to 31/12/2023.
All the PHH and AAY ration card holders have been requested to visit the Health Department Stall, near the exit gate at ITF Ground and create their PMJAY cards. They should carry the Ration card and Aadhaar card along with an Aadhaar-linked mobile number for the creation of their PMJAY cards. All PMJAY beneficiaries are entitled for cashless treatment worth Rs. 5 lakh per family per year at empanelled hospitals across the country in case of secondary and tertiary care hospitalization, a press release from DHS said.

Port Blair, Dec 26: The Department of Education, Andaman & Nicobar Administration will be organizing the prestigious 67th SGFI National School Games Football for Boys U-17 at Port Blair from 27th December, 2023 to 05th January, 2024. The opening ceremony of the games will be held on 27th December at 2.30 pm at Netaji Stadium with demonstration of Colourful Cultural /Mass drill/Dance followed by inaugural match. For the first time, a total number of 34 State/UT teams are participating in this mega event.

Veer Bal Diwas celebrated at Car Nicobar
Car Nicobar, Dec. 26: Veer Bal Diwas 2023 was observed by the District Child Protection Unit at Car Nicobar today. As part of this Diwas, a rally was organized from Tsunami Memorial to Tribal Council Office, Big Lapathy and Smti Jothi Kumari, IAS Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District flagged off the event.
A live telecast of the honorable Prime Minister’s address to the nation in the veer Bal Diwas-2023 programme at Bharat Mandapam was organized at JNV Arong Car Nicobar. To emphasize the significance of Veer Bal Diwas, a movie on Veer Bal Diwas was shown to the students. During the week various completions like Drawing, Essay writing, quiz & singing were organized for students under the theme of bravery at school. The prizes were distributed to competition winners during the events.
Composite Regional Center- A&N Islands for Divyangjans Hosts a special programme Attended by Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment
Port Blair, Dec 26: The Composite Regional Center for Divyangjans (CRC) hosted a special program on Tuesday, December 26th, featuring Honorable Minister of State Mr. A Narayanasami as the Chief Guest. The event was held to distribute assistive devices/ADIP Materials to divyangjans, or persons with disabilities, living in the surrounding regions.
The programme was enlightened with the presence of The Chief Guest Honorable Minister of State Mr. A Narayanasami, Dr. Nitin Sakiya Director Social Welfare and Smti Sumithamol S.
The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp ceremony at the premises of the Composite Regional Centre by the special dignitaries.The celebration began with the warm welcome speech by SmtiSumithamol S., Director, CRC-A&N Islands.
At the event, Mr. A Narayanasami spoke about the government’s commitment to providing support and assistance to divyangjans across the country. He emphasized the importance of investing in assistive technologies and devices to ensure that divyangjans have the tools and resources they need to lead fulfilling lives.
During the event, Mr. A Narayanasami distributed assistive devices, including Hearing Aids & TLM kits, to divyangjans who attended the program. These devices were provided by the CRC, which is dedicated to providing comprehensive rehabilitation services to people with disabilities in the region.
The CRC provides a wide range of services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation for people with disabilities. The center also offers training and education programs for healthcare professionals, caregivers, and family members to help them better serve the needs of divyangjans.
“We are thrilled to have Minister of State Mr. A Narayanasami here at the CRC to distribute these much-needed assistive devices to divyangjans,” said CRC Director Smti. Sumithmol S. “This program is a testament to the government’s commitment to supporting people with disabilities and ensuring that they have access to the resources they need to thrive.”
The CRC is part of a network of centers established by the government to provide rehabilitation services to people with disabilities across the country. With state-of-the-art facilities, experienced professionals, and a commitment to excellence, the CRC is leading the way in providing comprehensive rehabilitation services to divyangjans in the region.
During the programme a Group dance was performed by the special children’s. The parents of the children also actively participated in the event, enjoying the festivities alongside their kids. CRC- A&N Islands provided Christmas gifts to all the children as a token of love.
The programme ended followed by a small awareness programme on Family empowerment with Persons with Disability conducted by Mr. Jeo Paul, Asst. Professor Clinical Psychologist.
Overall, the Christmas celebration at the Composite Regional Centre was a grand success. It not only brought joy to the children but also created awareness about the abilities and talents of children with disabilities. The center’s commitment to inclusivity and providing a nurturing environment for these children was evident throughout the event. It was truly an event filled with laughter, happiness, and a celebration of the incredible potential in every child.
Finally, Mr. T.YAbid, Lecturer Physiotherapy proposed the vote of thanks to all the dignitaries and the gathering.

• No vehicle except 02 wheelers shall be allowed to proceed towards VIP Road from Hayat Singh Junction.

Yoga and Time Management session organises by Inner Wheel club for students of class 9 and 10 of RGT Public Vidyalaya
Port Blair, Dec 26: The pressure to perform well in exams leads to inevitable stress and anxiety amongst students hence keeping this in mind, a yoga session along with a session for time management was organised by the Inner Wheel club of Port Blair District 329 on Saturday 23rd December 2023 for students of class 9 and 10 of RGT Public Vidyalaya. This was an endeavor to provide the students a way to improve their concentration, tackle stress and effectively manage time during examination. The event was graced by the Headmistress of RGT Public Vidyalaya, Swami Shudhanand Chinmaya mission and teachers in presence of IWC Charter President Mrs. Raj Mahajan, Inner wheel Club President Mrs Bakhtawar Noble, Inner wheel Club Secretary Mrs. Komal Anand and other members of the Inner wheel Club of Port Blair. The Inner wheel Club member and yoga expert Rajni Ahuja taught yoga asanas to the children to enable them to improve their concentration at the time of examination and boost their memory power whilst Swami Shudhanandji of Chinmaya Mission delivered a very informative and insightful lecture on techniques of time management. The project ended on a positive note.
