Sri Vijaya Puram, Apr 22: ICDS Project, Ferrargunj organised valedictory event on 22.04.2025 at Wimberly Gunj Panchayat Hall in observance of 7th Poshan Pakhwada focusing on the theme “First 1000 Days of Life” to educate people about its importance. The programme was graced by Smti. Lalita Tigga, Block Development Officer, Ferrargunj (incharge CDPO, F/Gunj) as Chief Guest who addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of Poshan Pakhwada. The programme was also attended by Shri K. Venkat Ram Babu, Pradhan Wimberlygunj, Shri. P. Abdul Basheer, Pradhan Kanyapuram, Mukhya Sevika(s), Poshan Staff and Anganwadi Workers of ICDS, Ferrargunj.
The 7th Poshan Pakhwada, focuses on four key themes; i.e. “First 1000 Days of Life”, “Popularization of Poshan Tracker”, “Management of Malnutrition” and “Healthy Lifestyle”. These themes emphasizes nutrition’s crucial role from conception to a child’s second birthday, aiming to prevent stunting and to reduce under-nutrition in children and addressing malnutrition through Community-Based Management. Additionally, it is also encouraging community participation through a digital tool for tracking nutritional outcomes and promoting healthy habits to address obesity in children. During the event, the PHN Smti. Kavita Bai from PHC, Wimberlygunj, stressed upon the physical and mental health of every female during their pregnancy. The programme also featured a display of nutritious foods, millet based recipes prepared by various Anganwadi Workers & Helpers of ICDS Ferrargunj, which received praise from all attending dignitaries.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Apr. 22: The Deputy Education Officer, South Andaman is organizing the Inter School Football knock out tournament for Under -17 (Boys), Under -15 (Boys) and Under 17 (Girls) of South Andaman Educational Zone. Diglipur, Apr. 22: The valedictory function of POSHAN Pakhwada was celebrated with great enthusiasm and community participation. Shri. Deepankar Mistry, Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti, Diglipur was the chief guest. Smt. Indira Devi, Child Development Project Officer, ICDS Diglipur, Smt. Aarti Singh, Assistant Director, Department of Agriculture, Diglipur, Dr. Shipra Mistry, Medical Officer (AYUSH), Community Health Centre, Diglipur and Health Educator graced the occasion. As part of the celebration, a recipe competition was organized by the Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), showcasing innovative and nutritious food preparations. The competition drew active participation and highlighted the community’s commitment to promoting healthy eating practices. Adding to the excitement, a Toyathon was conducted yesterday, encouraging creativity and learning through play as it is an important component supporting cognitive, physical, social and spiritual domains of learning in the first 6 years of a child’s life. Participants were recognized for their innovative contributions, and prizes were distributed to the winners. The function also featured cultural performances by children, which captivated the audience and reflected the vibrant sprit of the event.

 

Sri Vijaya Puram, Apr. 22:The Directorate of Tourism is pleased to inform the public and all visitors that the Sound & Light Show at Cellular Jail is now operational and has resumed from today (April 22) onwards. The temporary suspension due to technical reasons has been successfully resolved. The show will now continue as per its regular schedule.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Apr 22: The Sports Authority of India (SAI), STC Sri Vijaya Puram will be conducting selection trials from 23.05.2025 to 30.05.2025 in the following schools of Sri Vijaya Puram (preference-wise) for admission into the residential scheme for the age group 10 to 14 years.
