On the occasion of the Foundation Day of Maharashtra and Gujarat, I extend my warmest greetings to the people of these two great states, especially those residing in these islands.
As we mark the 65th anniversary of their formation on May 1,1960, we celebrate not just a historical milestone, but the inspiring journey of resilience, progress and cultural richness that these states represent.
Maharashtra, with its proud legacy rooted in the valor of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, stands today as a beacon of industrial strength, artistic brilliance and progressive thought. From the dynamic energy of Mumbai to the cultural depth of Vidarbha, the fertile expanses of Marathwada to the scenic beauty of the Konkan coast- Maharashtra exemplifies unity in diversity.
Gujarat, the birthplace of visionaries like Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, has emerged as a model of development and entrepreneurship. Its vibrant industries, thriving ports and rich cultural heritage reflect the spirit of innovation and determination that defines its people.
On this significant day, we remember and honour the countless freedom fighters, social reformers and visionaries whose sacrifices and foresight laid the foundation for these progressive states.
