Sri Vijaya Puram, May 19:The Union Territory Administration of Andaman & Nicobar Islands has announced an increase in helicopter service frequency to enhance Inter-Island connectivity. Since its inception in 2003, the helicopter service has been a vital lifeline for Island residents, providing year-round access to remote and far-flung areas of the archipelago. This service has proven especially critical during medical emergencies and evacuation situations.
To meet the growing demand for safe and reliable Inter-Island travel, the Administration has revised the operational schedule of the helicopters. As per the revised operational schedule, the PHL helicopters shall connect Campbell Bay via Car Nicobar six days a week, Nancowry Group of Islands via Car Nicobar six days a week, direct sorties to Car Nicobar six days a week, six sorties to Hut Bay in a week, three sorties to Swaraj Dweep & Shaheed Dweep in a week, weekly three trips to Rangat and weekly six sorties to Mayabunder and Diglipur. Further, there will be weekly two flights of IAF Dornier aircraft for Campbell Bay via Car Nicobar every Monday and Friday.
This revised operational schedule aims to improve frequency of accessibility to isolated regions, promote socio-economic development, and ensure timely emergency support for the island population. The Administration remains committed to providing last-mile air connectivity and ensuring a safe, reliable, and efficient helicopter service for all islanders. The revised operational schedule of Pawan Hans Helicopters will come into effect from 22nd May, 2025.
