Port Blair, Jan 02: A team of CCS Police Station booked 11 people engaged in gambling on Saturday, the first day of New Year 2022 from the area between RBV School and Junglighat. The CCS team reportedly seized Rs.36,540 from the accused persons.
As per information received, on Sunday afternoon the CCS team received a tip-off about people gambling. Acting swiftly a team of CCS raided the location.
The police found 11 people playing cards with money on the line. They were apprehended on the spot. An amount of Rs. 36,540 in-hand cash and decks of cards were confiscated from the spot, it is learnt.
As per the source, all 11 people were booked under relevant sections of IPC. Further details are awaited.
