Port Blair, Sept 28: A brutal murder today shocked the entire Mayabunder region. According to details a person reportedly murdered his mother-in-law with Machete this afternoonat around 1.30 PM infront of his wife following a family dispute.
It is reported that the accused has been identified as Mr. Libin Kishore Xalxo R/o Tugapur-7 was a habitual drunkard.
As per sources in previous occasions, the family had settled the dispute amicably in police station. Due to alleged inhuman torture upon wife, she was staying with her mother along with children.
Today the victim came toMayabunder Bazar to withdraw her old age pension.
As per reports the accused also came toMayabunder, where he had a quarrel with his mother in law at Mayabunder bazar during which he demanded money for buying alcohol. But his mother in law refused.
Thereafter the accused followed his mother in law. At about 1:30 pm, at Tugapur-7 the accusedreportedly murdered her with a Machete.
When his wife tried to save her mother, the accused also attacked his wife and injured her. As per details the accused has been arrested and further investigation is under progress. The victim was about 67 years old. As no police officers could be contacted over phone, more details could not be gathered. Further details are awaited.
