Port Blair, Oct 02: 1stBambooflat Open Chess Tournament 2022 was organised by Bambooflat Chess Academy under the aegis of Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October 2022 at ZPVKv Auditorium, Shore point Bambooflat.
The tournament was inaugurated by Renowned International Master V Saravanan, from Chennai by making the ceremonial move on the top board against R Kashthuri Bhai to kickstart the event,
Miss Mariam Bibi , Zilla Parishad Member was the chief guest for the closing ceremony while Shri Basheer Pradhan KanyapuramPanchyat graced the occasion as the guest of honour. They gave away the prizes to the winners of the tournament.
Around 130 players participated in the event which was held in rapid mode over seven rounds in which R Kashthuri Bhai was the winner, D Shrestha Vijay stood second, P S Satish was third, P Anand Rao stood fourth while Rohan Singh an under 08 boy who performed brilliantly and secured fifth position in the open category. The winners were awarded with trophies, cash prizes and certificates.
Apart from open category three best players each in boys and girls from Under 09, Under 13, Under 17 and best youngest, women and veteran players were also awarded with cash prize, trophies and certificates.
