Port Blair, May 11: A scheduled Indigo flight departing from Chennai International Airport for Singapore this afternoon, made an unexpected emergency landing at Port Blair Veer Savarkar International Airport at approximately 02:20 PM. Sources reported that the emergency landing was prompted by a suspected technical issue.
As per reports, the flight, including 91 male passengers, 56 female passengers, and 11 infants, landed safely at Port Blair Airport, with the aircraft executing a normal and secure landing.
Following the landing, airport officials swiftly initiated inspections and rectification procedures to address the technical problem. In light of the incident, an Indigo flight scheduled to return to Bangalore at 02:30 PM was rescheduled to Singapore after taking due permission from DGCA, allowing movement of all international passengers. The other flight Indigo took off for Singapore from Port Blair at about 5.15 PM today with all stranded passengers.
Meanwhile, authorities arranged accommodation and meals for the affected Bangalore bound passengers of Indigo flight at Port Blair, which was supposed to go to Bangalore today. The authorities are currently working to investigate the cause of the suspected technical problem that led to the emergency landing.
