Port Blair, May 11: The Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Hotels Association welcome the intervention and initiative taken by the Chief Secretary of Andaman & Nicobar Administration to have a detailed meeting with the senior officers and technical team of the Electricity Department. This meeting is aimed to resolve the power supply crisis faced by the trade and the general public in the islands.
The power sector has been facing a crisis for an extended period, and we hope that the Chief Secretary’s directions will resolve the issue of interruptions/outages, bridge the gap between demand and supply, address technical faults in generation and distribution, and stop leakages, thereby reducing generation costs. To ensure the islands’ development and to uplift its economy, it is critical to meet the energy requirement. The Chief Secretary’s leadership and the steps taken are necessary and appreciated, especially when the growth in the trade and service sectors will increase the demand for power. Therefore, the detailed meeting held to resolve the power sector’s long-pending issues is crucial and is sincerely appreciated.
